We’re looking for someone with an insurance or reinsurance background who brings together technical expertise, process discipline, and a genuine enthusiasm for working with people. If you move easily between details and dialogue, processes and people, independent problem-solving and teamwork, we’d love to hear from you!
About the Role
This role is a fantastic opportunity for someone eager to build deep expertise in casualty reinsurance operations. In this role you will be an essential partner to our team of Actuaries and Underwriters supporting Financial Lines products spanning Errors & Omissions, Directors & Officers, Medical Malpractice, and Transactional Risk.
Key responsibilities include:
- Ensure high costing adequacy in treaty pricing across all Casualty lines of business (General Liability, Umbrella, Motor, Professional Lines, and Workers' Compensation) with a focus on Professional Lines
- Understand and quantify the impact of factors such as contract features, underwriting exposures, legal, regulatory, and societal trends
- Effectively communicate pricing and portfolio analyses to cross-functional deal teams and senior management, ensuring clarity and actionable insights.
- Lead and contribute to diverse actuarial projects, aimed at providing quantitative support to our Casualty Underwriting Office and Regional Underwriting Teams to improve underwriting performance and portfolio steering.
- Represent and position Swiss Re as a leading player in the Casualty space by engaging with clients, brokers, and industry associations and actively participating in renewal calls, meetings, and underwriting audits.
In partnership with key stakeholders – including external clients, Casualty Portfolio Managers, Underwriting Desk Heads, Client Markets, Reserving, and Swiss Re Senior Management – you will assess deals, portfolios, and pricing parameters using internal and external data sources.
About the Team
With team members based in Armonk, NY; Los Angeles, CA; and Kansas City, MO, we thrive as a dynamic, collaborative group. Together, we embrace challenges, champion innovation, and set new standards for excellence in US Casualty pricing and portfolio management.
About You
You are an exceptional actuary with a proven ability to combine technical expertise, strategic thinking, and leadership to deliver and communicate effectively on your analytics. You thrive in dynamic environments, are naturally curious, and are motivated to take ownership of complex challenges. With a collaborative mindset and strong business acumen, you excel at building partnerships and driving innovation in the Casualty space.
Key requirements include:
- 2-5 years' experience in a reinsurance or primary pricing or reserving function for Casualty lines of business.
