Technical Program Manager

About Us

Basecamp Research is building frontier AI for therapeutic design. We believe the future of medicine lies in reprogramming the body to repair itself, and we design the models and the medicines to teach it how.

Our EDEN models are trained on BaseData, the world's largest proprietary genomic dataset, with over 10B genes collected through partnerships in more than 30 countries across all seven continents. This gives our AI models access to genetic diversity that doesn't exist in public databases, and enables EDEN to design cell and gene therapies, enzymes, and peptides directly from information about a disease. Our pipeline of EDEN-designed therapeutics, beginning with in vivo cell therapy, is advancing towards clinical development.

In September 2026 we closed an oversubscribed $140M Series C led by S32, with participation from NVIDIA, Anthropic's Anthology Fund, Catalio, European Tech Collective, Firebrand River Capital, King Philanthropies, NATO Innovation Fund, NVentures (NVIDIA's venture arm), Redalpine, Rockefeller Foundation, Singular, Sovereign AI and True Ventures. We have offices and labs in London and Boston, we partner with biopharma companies and academic institutions worldwide, and our work has been recognised by Fast Company's Top 10 Most Innovative Companies in Biotech, the FT-backed Sifted AI100 list of Europe's leading AI startups as well as Barclays Eagle Labs Ones to watch, AI100.

At Basecamp Research, we pride ourselves on being a lean collaborative and global team with extremely specialist and unique skills. Our biologists, engineers, ML scientists and field explorers are united by a sense of adventure and the belief that AI, biology and data, will result in new medicines for patients who have few options today.

The Role

We are seeking a highly capable and proactive Technical Program Manager, Science to join our Boston team, embedded within the Chief Scientific Officer’s organization. This role supports our research and data groups across Innovation Science, Genetics and Genotoxicity, helping all these teams work together smoothly and efficiently. You will serve as the connective tissue between departments – driving internal operational efficiency, coordinating cross-team projects, managing key partnerships, and overseeing the tools and operations that our technical teams rely on. You will also have the opportunity to play a leading role in future Alliances with external parties.

In this role, you will focus on optimizing processes, facilitating collaboration, goal setting/tracking and supporting the team in meeting deliverables, as well as liaising with counterparts through Alliances with external partners.

You’ll report directly to the CSO, operating in tight dotted-line alignment with the London-based CTO Program Management office/team. In this capacity, you will ensure that scientific milestones are synchronized with foundational model release cycles. You will need to ensure that our team of scientists and engineers can focus on pioneering research and development. This is an ideal opportunity for a hands-on operator who thrives in a fast-paced startup environment where no two days are the same and wants to make a big impact on how a cutting-edge biotech company scales its operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Cross-Functional Coordination: Work across data, science and biology teams to plan and execute cross-functional initiatives. Ensure coordination between science and technology teams, especially in the context of generating post-training and fine-tuning data for foundation model development.

• Process Improvement: Identify bottlenecks and opportunities for improvement in our internal workflows. Implement new processes or tools to boost operational efficiency, streamline project delivery, and eliminate friction, all while maintaining agility.

• External Partnership Management: Manage and develop relationships with external technical and scientific partners. This includes coordinating joint projects with research collaborators, universities, technology vendors, and future Alliances with partners and ensuring that these partnerships are productive and aligned with our goals.

• Tooling & Infrastructure Oversight: Oversee the selection, implementation, and optimization of the software tools and platforms used by our technical teams (e.g. project management systems, knowledge bases, data pipeline tools). Make sure our engineers and scientists have the right tools and Partnering with the London team to prevent operational fragmentation or parallel status reporting.

• Operational Strategy & Support: Work closely with the CSO and team leads to prioritize technical operational initiatives and drive strategic improvements. Help plan resource allocation, support budgeting for technical resources, and assist leadership in developing operations strategy that supports our rapid growth.

• Pre-clinical and Regulatory: Partner closely with regulatory, and where relevant, pre-clinical and clinical stakeholders to ensure program plans and deliverables meet compliance and study-readiness requirements - this is a core, hands-on part of the role, not a peripheral one.

• Knowledge Sharing: Promote effective communication and knowledge sharing across teams, enabling feedback loops across key technical teams. Ensure that learnings, best practices, and project updates are documented (in a lightweight way) and accessible, so everyone stays on the same page without excessive bureaucracy.

Required Skills and Experience

• Technical Operations Experience: 5+ years of experience in technical operations, program management, or a similar role within a tech-focused or biotech organization. You have a track record of coordinating complex projects and improving operational processes across multiple teams.

• Project Management & Organization: Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and timelines. Proven experience driving projects from idea to completion, ensuring nothing falls through the cracks.

• Communication & Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication skills with a talent for working with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. You can interface comfortably with software engineers, data scientists, biologists, product managers, and external partners, translating needs and keeping everyone in sync.

• Technical Savvy: Familiarity with life sciences. You don’t need to be in the lab or writing code, but you should be familiar with concepts like data pipelines, reinforcement learning and gene editing well enough to have informed discussions and make effective decisions.

• Vendor/Partner Management: Experience managing relationships with external vendors or partners, especially in scientific or technical projects. You’re comfortable evaluating services, negotiating contracts, and collaborating with outside organizations to achieve shared objectives.

• Proactive Problem-Solving: A proactive, resourceful, and independent mindset. You take initiative to identify problems or inefficiencies and act on them. You’re the kind of person who spots an issue and rallies the right people to fix it before it escalates.

• Adaptability: Comfortable with ambiguity and rapid change. Our environment evolves quickly – you should thrive in a dynamic setting and be flexible in adjusting plans, while maintaining a positive, can-do attitude.

• Ownership & Drive: High degree of ownership over your work. You care about outcomes and reliably follow through on tasks and take pride in delivering quality results.

Advantageous Skills and Experience

• Master’s or PhD preferred in computational sciences, applied mathematics, life sciences, physics, chemistry, or bioengineering.

• Industry Domain Knowledge: Experience in the life sciences, biotech, or other R&D-intensive industries. Understanding of domains like genomics, bioinformatics, or drug discovery can help you better support our teams.

• Scaling Startups: Prior experience at a high-growth startup or in scaling operations for a technical team. Familiarity with the challenges of rapid growth and scaling infrastructure or processes would be a plus.

• Technical Background: Hands-on technical skills are a bonus. Perhaps you’ve written code, managed cloud deployments, or analyzed data in a past life – if so, you’ll have extra empathy for the technical staff you’ll be supporting.

What we can offer in return

• Impactful Mission: The opportunity to be a key member of our team in an exciting, dynamic, and fast-moving field. Your work will directly enable breakthrough discoveries and real-world impact in biotechnology.

• Collaborative Culture: A fun, flexible, and supportive work environment with an office in the center of Boston. We emphasize collaboration and personal development – you’ll be working cross-team and cross-function daily, alongside people who are passionate about what they do.

• Competitive Compensation: Competitive salary including equity, so you share ownership in our success.

• Comprehensive Benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision coverage; 401(k) with company match; pre-tax commuter benefits; fertility and family-forming support; and more.

The base salary range for this role is $160,000 – $220,000 depending on experience.
