We are currently seeking a Supply Chain Manager - JDM (Joint Design and Manufacturing) to join our global team
to lead our strategic sourcing, supplier selection & development, commodity engineering, component engineering
and materials cost-reduction initiatives in support of our Connectivity and Cloud Solutions (CCS) segment.
The successful candidate will have significant experience in both customer management, and design for supply
chain initiatives. The incumbent will lead the efforts of multiple support organizations, globally, to ensure a
successful engagement with Celestica’s product design customers.
Detailed Description
The job requirements are organized below into four core functional categories:
1. Cross Functional Engagement
Segment Oversight: Own end-to-end strategic sourcing initiatives for assigned project(s), cross-functionally coordinating and optimizing the actions of engineering, operations, commodity management and procurement teams in design, supplier and part selection, qualification, quoting, planning, inventory, manufacturing, quality, and logistics.
Customer Engagement: Routinely present Celestica’s Clear To Build (CTB) status summary and lead supply initiatives for the customer. Participate in QBRs and cost reduction workshops.
2. Design for Supply Chain (DFSC) & New Product Introduction (NPI)
BOM Scrub: Perform iterative evaluation of NPI Bill of Materials (BOM) through the phases of Engineering development and Design Verification to identify and resolve component lifecycle/obsolescence risks, single and sole source, and Country Of Origin (COO).
Multi-Sourcing: Engage commodity engineers, NPI Sourcing, and AI tools to identify second-source alternatives that mitigate BOM risks. Guide these proposals through the qualification process to maximize AVL implementation.
JDM Engagement: Liaise with Celestica's engineering program manager (ePM), technical product lead (TPL), and engineering design teams to ensure the Bill Of Materials (BOM) is optimized in component selection for supply assurance and cost effectiveness.
Clear To Build: Routinely review material supply with site planners and purchasing teams to meet targeted NPI build quantities and schedules while minimizing excess liability. Coordinate escalation to suppliers, Commodity Management and Supply Line Management if material arrivals do not meet critical need dates. Evaluate Demand & Supply, open order and buffer stocking to identify and mitigate supply risks.
Inventory Control: Balance customer service level inventory targets against active business demand to optimize working capital and mitigate excess and obsolete inventory liabilities.
Logistics & Trade Compliance: Supervise international inbound logistics workflows by reviewing transit modes (Air vs. Truck vs. Sea), authorizing freight premium costs, when matching supplier ETAs to assembly schedules. Navigate import/export regulations efficiently to minimize potential tariffs.
4. Business Operations
Supply Chain Process Optimization: Design, deploy, and continuously improve global supply chain processes and integrated business applications.
Export Compliance: Adhere strictly to the regulations of the Controlled Goods Program (CGP) for export compliance where required.
Strategic Commodities Pricing: Engage specific commodity managers directly in price negotiations for critical high-dollar or strategic commodities, driving alignment with broader business requirements and growth plans.
Bid & Costing Analysis: Provide analytical support for costed customer bids and run quarterly Bill of Materials (BOM) Costing exercises for global customers.
Knowledge/Skills/Competencies
Experience Threshold: Minimum of 9+ years of progressive supply chain experience, with explicit past exposure within an electronic manufacturing services (EMS) or hardware platform environment preferably in server designs
Educational Foundation: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Materials Management, or an equivalent combination of technical education and domain experience.
Mobility: Ability to support global programs, including regular cross-functional travel to Celestica manufacturing facilities, business offices, and customer locations up to 25% of the time.
Languages: English fluency is a must have. Ability to speak Mandarin and/or Thai would be an asset, based on the location of the design center and manufacturing.
