Editor

Voleon is a technology company that applies state-of-the-art AI and machine learning techniques to real-world problems in finance. For nearly two decades, we have led our industry and worked at the frontier of applying AI/ML to investment management. We have become a multibillion-dollar asset manager, and we have ambitious goals for the future.

Your colleagues will include internationally recognized experts in machine learning research as well as highly experienced finance and technology professionals. You will be working with strategies that are at the forefront of machine learning and statistical trading. The strategies have been carefully designed to generate non-correlated returns. Our firm and its strategies are the product of many years of meticulous research and craftsmanship, and you will lead the way in bringing them to investors.

In addition to our enriching and collegial working environment, we offer highly competitive compensation and benefits packages, technology talks by our experts, a beautiful modern office, daily catered lunches, and more.

As a Staff Editor, you will become a central resource for how Voleon presents itself, working directly with investor relations, business development, executive leadership, and technical staff to lift the quality and consistency of written communications across the organization. We are looking for a Staff Editor to become a central resource for how Voleon presents itself — working directly with investor relations, business development, executive leadership, and technical staff to lift the quality and consistency of written communications across the organization. This is not a traditional editing role. You will edit documents, but you will also build the editorial infrastructure, including standards, processes, and training, that allows the firm to produce better writing with less friction over time.

The right candidate wants their editorial judgment to shape how an entire organization communicates. You want to raise the quality of the firm's writing while preserving its voice, and you find close collaboration with intellectually serious, technically rigorous colleagues more satisfying than working alone.

Responsibilities

• Edit investor letters, client updates, presentations, and other external communications produced by our investor relations and business development teams

• Partner with executive leadership to develop talking points, all-hands presentations, and firmwide communications; learn each leader's voice and produce drafts that require only modest revision

• Develop and maintain Voleon's house style, including style guidelines, documentation practices, and standards tailored to investor communications, recruiting materials, and internal documents

• Establish and streamline editorial workflows for drafting, revising, and approving documents

• Lead writing clinics and coach staff to build the firm's capacity for clear, purposeful writing over time

• Develop guidance that empowers staff to self-certify their documents, reducing editorial bottlenecks without sacrificing quality

• Contribute to the development of AI-assisted writing and editing tools

Requirements

• Significant editing experience with formal, analytical, or investor-facing writing

• A demonstrated ability to write and edit with clear sense purpose and audience

• Exceptional command of grammar, style, structure, and tone

• Experience developing or managing style guides, documentation practices, and editorial standards.

• Strong interpersonal and coaching skills, including the ability to explain editorial decisions to authors who know their subject and have strong views about how to express it.

• Familiarity with investment concepts or financial services or a willingness to learn
