Hungry for a challenge?
That’s good, because at Just Eat Takeaway.com (JET) we believe everything is possible, or, as we say, everything is on the table. We are a leading global online food delivery marketplace. Our tech ecosystem connects millions of active customers with hundreds of thousands of connected partners in countries across the globe.
Our mission? To empower every food moment around the world, whether it’s through customer service, coding or couriers.
The Opportunity
The Golang Engineering role plays a critical part in connecting Grocery Partners with the Just Eat Takeaway platform. We are looking for engineers to take our integration platform to the next level whilst maintaining core functionality on which thousands of our partners depend. This is a permanent senior role: we're hiring someone to stay, set the technical standard and lift the people around them.
Our Stack
You will work mainly in Golang on event-driven microservices. Day to day that means Kafka, AWS (DynamoDB, S3 in particular), Datadog and Grafana, running on Kubernetes. AWS production experience matters here.
These are some of the key ingredients to the role:
In this role, you will also have the opportunity to:
- Build new features in our core language, Golang
- Make key architectural decisions and set the technical direction for the platform
- Support product and delivery teams
- Mentor mid level and junior engineers, and shape how the team builds
What will you bring to the table?
- Strong experience with Golang
- Experience with event-driven distributed systems: HTTP/REST services, async messaging (Kafka, SQS, SNS, Pub/Sub or RabbitMQ), eventual consistency, idempotency, retries and dead-letter handling
- A track record of running your own services in production on AWS: on-call, incident response and observability
- Experience with Test-Driven Development (TDD)
- Ownership beyond your own tickets: you take problems end to end and improve how the team works
- Mentoring shown by what you've already done, such as mentoring engineers, running learning sessions or writing docs others used
- A great communicator: you're comfortable explaining technical ideas to non-technical people, and "working out loud" (WOL'ing, as we call it) so others can follow your thinking
- AI-assisted development: the team uses tools like Claude Code and Kiro every day. We want engineers who use AI to move faster while keeping their own engineering judgement, and who can explain and defend any code they ship
