Heavy Equipment Operator

At Hive, we're building the defining physical AI platform of the next decade.

Industrial labor is one of the most acute bottlenecks in the global economy. Operators are expensive, hard to retain, and working in environments that are increasingly unsafe. The shortage is structural. The window to solve it is now.

Our answer is a machine-agnostic intelligence platform that lets any machine, on any site, perceive, decide, and act autonomously. One platform. Any machine. No fleet replacement.

Already live across multiple sites and customers in Europe - spanning logistics and warehousing, industrial manufacturing, and large-scale chemical production - with a US expansion underway.

The vision: one operator managing hundreds of machines simultaneously. Productive machine-hour cost dropping by 80x, and unlocks the next productivity revolution in physical work.

The mission is to make productivity limitless. Come and help us build it.

The role

You know how to operate heavy equipment, whether that's forklifts, wheel loaders or excavators. We'll teach you to operate and supervise machines remotely.

Hive turns industrial vehicles and heavy equipment into remotely operated and supervised-autonomous machines. As an operator, you'll operate and supervise different types of industrial machines, including forklifts, wheel loaders, dumpers and excavators, from a Hive station at our operations. You'll step in when a machine needs a human, and operate manually in the cab during testing and deployment where required.

Your operating experience matters more than any degree. You know what safe, efficient machine operation looks like, and your feedback goes straight to the engineers building the system.

What a shift looks like

• Start with pre-operation checks on the machine, cameras and station, plus a briefing on any software changes.

• Remotely operate forklifts, wheel loaders and other industrial machines, and supervise autonomous operations, taking control when human intervention is required.

• Operate manually in the cab during testing, commissioning and deployment where required and appropriately qualified.

• Follow site safety rules and Hive's operating procedures, and stop the machine when in doubt.

• Log issues and write clear feedback for the engineering and operations teams.

• Work alongside the customer's site crew and other operators to ensure safe, reliable and productive operations.

• Train and qualify on additional machine types as Hive expands its applications.

What you bring

• 3+ years of professional experience operating heavy equipment or industrial vehicles, particularly forklifts, wheel loaders, excavators or similar machinery.

• Hands-on operating experience with more than one type of machine.

• A strong safety record and good judgement under pressure.

• Comfortable with computers and screens, and keen to learn new software.

• Strong situational awareness and the ability to remain focused during remote and supervised autonomous operations.

• Able to work shifts, [including nights and weekends], and travel to customer sites when needed.

• A valid driver's licence and ability to pass a background check and drug screen [subject to applicable law and company policy].

• Authorised to work in the US.

Bonus points

• Experience in quarries, aggregates, mining, construction, ports, recycling or warehousing and logistics operations.

• Training or supervising other operators.

• Safety training such as OSHA 10 or 30.

• Experience with remote-controlled machinery, automated equipment or autonomous industrial systems.

What we offer

• Full paid training on Hive's systems.

• Competitive salary.

• A chance to be among the first industrial operators in the US working with Physical AI, operating and supervising autonomous machines across industries and helping shape the future of industrial operations.
