Assistant Store Manager

We're Arc'teryx, and we build gear that's obsessively engineered to perform in the wildest weather. Born in the Canadian Coast Mountains, we're driven by design, performance, and a deep respect for the outdoors.

As we prepare to open our first-ever store in the South Island, we're looking for an Assistant Store Manager to help bring this landmark location to life.

This isn't just another store. As our largest Alpha Store in the region, it will be a destination for outdoor enthusiasts, a hub for community, and a space that showcases the very best of the Arc'teryx brand. This is a unique opportunity to be part of building something from the ground up and shaping the future of Arc'teryx in New Zealand.

Your Role

As our Assistant Store Manager, you'll partner closely with the Store Manager to build, develop and inspire an exceptional team, create an unmatched guest experience, and ensure the store operates with excellence every day. You'll lead from the floor, balancing people leadership, operational execution, and commercial performance while helping establish a strong and lasting presence in the Auckland community.

What You'll Be Doing

• Supporting and inspiring your team to deliver exceptional guest experiences and achieve sales goals
• Driving a culture of accountability, development, and high performance
• Championing visual merchandising, product education, and sell-through strategies
• Leading by example and stepping in wherever needed, from the stockroom to the sales floor
• Building meaningful community connections and bringing the Arc'teryx brand to life
• Partnering with the Store Manager on recruitment, onboarding, coaching, and team development
• Supporting operational excellence, including labour planning, inventory management, and store standards

You'll Thrive Here If You Have

• 2–3 years of leadership experience in a retail environment
• A growth mindset and entrepreneurial spirit
• A passion for the outdoors and the gear that enables adventure
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative leadership style
• A commercial mindset with the ability to think strategically and act decisively
• A genuine passion for developing people, serving guests, and building community

What's In It For You?

• Competitive salary and bonus opportunity
• Generous staff discounts across Arc'teryx and other Amer Sports brands
• Paid parental leave top-up program
• Two consecutive days off each week to support balance and wellbeing
• A complete Arc'teryx kit to get you started
• Career pathways across New Zealand, Australia, and globally
• The opportunity to help launch and shape New Zealand's first Arc'teryx store
• The chance to be part of a passionate team that lives and breathes the outdoors
