Associate General Counsel

About Manifest

Manifest OS is the leading AI-native company on a mission to replace the billable hour and make legal services more accessible for American businesses and consumers. We power the next generation of AI-native law firms with one unified global brand, a proprietary technology platform, and a centralized back office, enabling lawyers to eliminate the administrative burden and focus on delivering exceptional outcomes for their clients. Manifest OS has raised a $60M Series A from Menlo Ventures, Kleiner Perkins, First Round, and Quiet Capital.

About the Role

We're hiring an Associate General Counsel to help us scale through a critical growth period. You'll work across legal ethics, privacy, AI regulation, commercial contracts, immigration, and whatever else the business needs — this is a generalist role defined by judgment, not narrow specialization. You'll have real ownership: shaping compliance programs, building vendor relationships, and defining how legal risk is managed as we grow. You'll work directly with founders and executives who treat legal as a strategic partner.

What You’ll Do

• Build privacy and AI compliance frameworks that enable speed without unnecessary risk

• Translate regulatory requirements into practical guidance for product, engineering, and operations

• Review and negotiate vendor contracts, customer agreements, and partnership deals

• Support M&A and fundraising transactions as needed

• Serve as the go-to legal partner for cross-functional teams across the company

• Experiment with AI tools to automate routine legal work and improve team efficiency

• Help define what modern, technology-enabled legal operations looks like at Manifest

What We’re Looking For

Must-haves:

• 3–6 years of legal experience, including in-house or GC/AGC experience at a startup

• Hands-on experience with commercial and SaaS contracts, including negotiation

• Working knowledge of GDPR, CCPA, CPRA, and emerging AI regulations

• Familiarity with legal ethics, employment law, and immigration (visa petitions, sponsorships)

• Ability to prioritize independently and give practical, business-grounded legal advice

Nice-to-haves:

• Experience supporting M&A or venture fundraising transactions

• Prior use of AI tools for contract review, legal research, or workflow automation

• Background at a law firm before transitioning in-house

This is for you if...

You want real ownership, not a seat at someone else's roadmap. You're energized by variety and comfortable making judgment calls in ambiguous situations. You're genuinely curious about AI as a tool to do better legal work, not a threat to it.

Not for you if...

You need clearly defined processes and a well-structured team to do your best work. You want to specialize in one area of law rather than operate across many. You're drawn to title and prestige over building something meaningful from the ground up.
