Job Title: Test and Development Technician

Location: Scarborough

Our Vision & Why It Matters

At Alexander Dennis, our vision is to lead the evolution of sustainable on-road mass transportation and mobility.

We design, deliver, and support market-leading buses and coaches that help reduce emissions, improve air quality, and keep communities connected. Every role contributes to that mission whether you’re engineering, driving sales, improving production, or supporting our customers.

What You’ll Do

As a Technician in our Test & Development team, you’ll play a hands-on role in supporting the development and validation of our vehicles. Based in our Scarborough workshop, you’ll carry out electrical and mechanical tasks to prepare vehicles and test rigs for verification activities.

Working closely with engineers, you’ll build, modify, and instrument vehicles to support testing both on-site and at external facilities. This is a varied and practical role where you’ll contribute directly to innovation, product quality, and performance, while working in a fast-paced and evolving engineering environment.

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for a practical and self-motivated individual with a strong automotive engineering background. You’ll have experience working with electrical and mechanical systems and be confident interpreting engineering drawings and carrying out fault finding.

You’ll be comfortable working independently or as part of a team, capable of solving problems and meeting deadlines in a hands-on workshop environment. Strong communication skills and a proactive approach are key to success in this role.

Bonus if you have:

• Experience with high voltage or CAN systems
• Knowledge of instrumentation and data logging equipment
• PSV or HGV licence
• Experience in vehicle testing or development environments
