Value Engineer

Your Impact

Procurement is the single biggest cost position for industrial companies, often 60-70% of revenue. Tacto brings AI to strategic procurement so teams can move faster, become more resilient and unlock savings at scale. However, winning a customer takes more than a good platform. It takes a business case that convinces the C-level (primarily CEO and CFO).

As our Value Engineer, you own exactly that. You quantify what Tacto is worth to a specific customer, prove it with their own data, and present it to the executives who sign. As the first Value Engineer in a dedicated segment, you are perfectly positioned to shape this function and maximize its impact.

It's a hands-on, high-trust role at the center of our deals, ideal for someone who wants to combine procurement expertise, analytical depth, and the C-suite room in one role.

Your Tasks

• Make our AI tangible: Tacto's AI runs billions of spend and finds savings customers didn't know existed. Your job is to demonstrate that with the customer's own data: make sure our solution fits their needs, they recognize the value, blockers are resolved, and the path to a successful implementation is set.

• Build the Business Case: Construct ROI analyses that stand up to C-level readout standards: real customer data, defensible baselines, scenarios and sensitivities. Your numbers directly shape whether deals are won.

• Bring the Procurement Expertise: You are the person with in-depth knowledge of categories, procurement organizations and processes. Dig through spend data for price anomalies, bundling opportunities and supplier alternatives, and turn insights into a value story.

• Own the C-Suite: Lead executive meetings with CEOs, CFOs and managing directors of industrial companies. You present, justify and land the case.

• Work as a Deal Team: You team up with an Account Executive on every deal: the AE owns the program and the customer relationship, you own the value. Together you form the deal team that gets customers over the line.

• Shape the Product: Be the voice of sales and customers towards the product team. Channel feedback, discuss roadmap trade-offs from a customer perspective, and know every Tacto module deep enough to demo solo.

Your Profile

• You've worked in procurement or procurement consulting and know categories, negotiations, supplier management and procurement organizations from the inside

• You're analytically sharp: you find the story in messy spend data and turn it into ROI calculations a C-level trusts

• You're at your best in front of C-level audiences and stay sharp when they push back

• You learn products fast and deep, and thrive diving into in-depth technical demos

• You take ownership across teams (Sales, Solution Engineering, Product, Customer Value) and drive deals forward without being asked

• You use AI tools to move faster than people expect

• Fluent in German and English (our buyers decide in German)

Why This Role is Awesome

Tacto is already the leading AI solution for procurement, running billions of € of spend every month, increasing resilience and saving millions in measurable, tangible spend each week. For customer leads, that value can feel abstract at first. Your job is to make it tangible: demonstrate the capabilities of our solution with the customer's own data, and create the trust that convinces them to buy. You'll work closely with the sales team and Tacto's senior leadership, shape the future product roadmap and development, and as the first Value Engineer in your segment you build the function to maximize its impact.

What This Role Is and Isn't

We want to be honest about what you're signing up for:

• The day-to-day is deal work: digging through messy spend data, building ROI models, prepping demos, and hitting deadlines set by live sales cycles. It's demanding and detailed, and it's some of the highest-leverage work at Tacto: our deals are won or lost on it.

• This is a dual role by design. You build the business case AND you stand in front of the C-level to defend it. If you only want to analyze, or only want to present, this isn't the right fit.

• The deal: prove yourself, deliver real impact, make a strong case for yourself, then we'll support your growth in every way possible.

Why Tacto

• We bet on internal talent and mean it. We consistently back smart, hungry people with real ownership early. 70%+ of our Leadership Team was promoted internally: you deliver impact and sky is the limit at Tacto.

• A truly AI-native organization, with every resource you could dream of. All the leading AI tools and custom agents at your fingertips, plus dedicated "AI captains" who keep us at the frontier.

• High bar, high speed, genuinely fun. You'll be surrounded by extremely smart and ambitious people who set the bar high and push you to get better every week. Intense, fast, and the opposite of boring.

• A front-row seat in the European startup ecosystem. Weekly exposure to leading founders and operators through internal and external events, e.g. with Andreas Klinger, Judith Dada or during large Hackathons. Check out all upcoming and past events here: https://luma.com/tacto

• You'll build something that lasts and that matters. You'll help build the company that keeps European industry competitive for the long-term.

Our Background

Tacto is building the intelligence layer that connects AI to the physical world of manufacturing, starting with procurement. AI is transforming every industry, but it stops at the factory gate. The knowledge that holds manufacturing together - part costs, suppliers, materials - is scattered across systems and people. Over 50% of a product's cost originates from suppliers, making procurement the single largest cost lever in manufacturing and the missing connection between the digital and the physical world. Yet it still runs on Excel and legacy systems. We're changing that with our Procurement Intelligence Platform, trusted by hundreds of companies running billions of Euros of material.

Based in Munich, we are 100+ passionate builders who are in-office, with high expectations, fast growth, and a lot of fun. We are supported by >€50m from Sequoia, Index, and Europe's leading tech entrepreneurs and industry veterans.

Why It Matters

Manufacturing forms Europe's economic backbone, driving a fourth of Europe's GDP and providing over 30% of jobs. These hidden champions and global market leaders manufacture the physical world around us, from the machines that build our cities to the medical devices that save lives.

But the world is changing. The US dominates the digital world of bits. China is scaling the world of atoms, manufacturing at unprecedented speed and scale. Geopolitics are more uncertain than ever. Europe's strength lies in its deep industrial knowledge through generations of engineering. Manufacturing worldwide runs on European machines and software. But that heritage is only an advantage if we leverage it in the age of AI.

Tacto builds the AI that connects Atoms and Bits, empowering our Industrial Base to Stay Stronger and building a lighthouse for European tech.

What We Offer

The people at Tacto are passionate about building the organization, growing themselves, and our product while having fun and being real. You'll grow at the forefront of AI, have real ownership and impact, and be surrounded by the best people in their field who challenge you and make you better every day. That is demanding and rewarding, but that's where we thrive. Besides that you have:
