The global Information Technology (IT) Function is leading efforts to align IT and Business Strategy, leverage IT investments, and optimize end to end business processes and associated information integration technologies. Through these efforts, IT helps to improve the competitive position of Corning's businesses through IT enabled processes. IT also delivers Information Technology applications, infrastructure, and project services in a cost efficient manner to Corning worldwide.
Role Purpose:
As an Application Database Developer, you will leverage technical acumen to provide superior engineering and production support for Global Oracle Database environments. In addition, you will drive and participate in efforts to ensure platform stability to maximize performance of database environments, partner with application owners/teams to understand application and business needs and SLO (Service Level Objectives).
Roles and Responsibilities:
- The primary focus will be on production support for database environments working with 24X7 support staff.
- Database administration (Installation, configuration, and management, patching and upgrade of the database environments), and Database Backup & Recovery.
- Participate in Change Advisory Board and provide guidance governance on Database changes. Perform problem resolution for complex issues including root cause analysis and outline resolution options.
- Provide off-hours support, when required, for critical production issues.
- Automate Infrastructure components leveraging understanding of scripting, coding and automation using one or more of the following: PowerShell, Microsoft DSC, Chef, Puppet, Ruby, Terraform, OEM or others.
- Perform Database refresh as per customer needs and Database/SQL Monitoring and Performance Tuning.
