Mental Health Counselor (MHC) – Massachusetts

Third Space Therapy combines the independence of private practice with the support of a group setting, focused on expanding access to Medicaid-covered behavioral healthcare.

We're looking for passionate Mental Health Counselors (MHCs) to provide telehealth therapy to Medicaid members across Massachusetts while continuing to accrue clinical experience toward independent LMHC licensure.

For this opportunity, candidates must already have an established LMHC supervisor outside of Third Space who can provide the supervision required toward LMHC licensure. Third Space will provide additional clinical support and connect MHCs with our experienced independently licensed clinicians as part of our practice model.

This is a part-time, hourly W-2 position based in Massachusetts.

At Third Space Therapy, we offer

• Flexible scheduling. Build a schedule that fits your life, with the stability of a steady caseload and a consistent paycheck.

• Paid for all your work. You're paid for your time — including documentation, administrative work, and client no-shows — not just for sessions completed.

• Clinical support. You'll have access to experienced independently licensed clinicians within Third Space for ongoing clinical guidance and support while maintaining your established external LMHC supervision.

• Benefits. Health benefits, Massachusetts Earned Sick Time, and Paid Family and Medical Leave coverage.

• Administrative support. Our team manages scheduling, insurance, billing, and other administrative responsibilities so you can focus on client care.

• Robust referral network. Build a diverse caseload through our connections with insurers, universities, and community providers.

• Cultural influence. Help shape the direction of a growing practice — your input on how we deliver care actually lands.

• Remote practice model. Work from home or anywhere in Massachusetts, with the full support of a group practice behind you.

• Community focus. Make a meaningful difference for Medicaid members and help close real gaps in access to behavioral healthcare.

What you'll need

• A Master's degree in Mental Health Counseling, Counseling Psychology, Clinical Mental Health Counseling, or another qualifying field for LMHC licensure in Massachusetts

• Current eligibility to practice and accrue supervised clinical experience toward LMHC licensure in Massachusetts

• An established LMHC supervisor outside of Third Space who is qualified to provide supervision toward your Massachusetts LMHC licensure

• Hands-on experience providing psychotherapy, behavioral health assessments, or other direct clinical mental health services

• Experience with mental health diagnoses, treatment planning, and clinical documentation

• Comfort using EHR systems, telehealth platforms, and other digital tools

• A quiet, HIPAA-compliant home office for confidential virtual sessions

• Fluency in English; proficiency in Spanish is preferred, and additional languages are a plus

We're looking for counselors who bring

• A strong foundational understanding of mental health diagnoses and clinical presentation

• Experience developing individualized, clinically appropriate treatment plans

• Familiarity with evidence-based therapeutic modalities and the ability to explain how you apply them in practice

• Skill conducting behavioral health assessments and using clinical findings to guide treatment

• Strong clinical documentation and communication skills

• The ability to build therapeutic rapport with diverse client populations in a virtual environment

• A collaborative approach to working with clients, supervisors, and the broader clinical team

• A commitment to serving Medicaid populations and communities that have historically faced barriers to behavioral healthcare
