What You’ll Do
As a Data Business Analyst, you'll be responsible for eliciting requirements and shaping solutions to business problems across the full reporting lifecycle — from requirements gathering through to delivery of reports and dashboards. You'll work within an Agile framework, acting as the conduit between the business, and our Data Engineers and Visualization Analysts.
Key Responsibilities
- Gather and define detailed project requirements from across the Canadian business for data reporting products
- Own the end-to-end reporting lifecycle, from requirements gathering, to solution design, build support, user acceptance testing, and deployment
- Run workshops, interviews, and prototyping sessions to capture and refine requirements — including situations where requirements are unclear or priorities are shifting
- Define and document data mappings, and end-to-end data flows
- Support data governance, data quality, and master data management initiatives
- Produce Business Requirement Documents (BRDs), Functional Specification Documents (FSDs), user stories, process flows, and acceptance criteria
- Partner with Data Visualization Analysts to support the delivery of Power BI and self-service analytics solutions, ensuring outputs are intuitive, well-documented and accessible to business users
- Ensure requirements are complete, consistent, concise, and verifiable — and traceable back to a genuine business need.
- Provide input into new products and feature designs so that reporting and analytics needs are considered from the outset, not bolted on afterward
