We are currently recruiting for a Data Consultant in Shanghai, to strengthen local data delivery capability for China consulting projects.
Data consultant will be a key expert in enhancing the autonomous delivery capability and efficiency of the China team. The core mission is to lead and personally execute critical data projects. By deeply owning the end-to-end process from requirement to delivery, data consultant will respond directly and swiftly to local market demands and amplify commercial impact in China.
This role will have a direct reporting line to the Shanghai CG Head and a matrix line to the Global Head of Data. The role will fully focus on China’s project delivery and initiatives and serves as a practical bridge between Shanghai Consulting and Global Catalyst, applying global data delivery methodologies, quality standards and scalable approaches where they strengthen local delivery.
Key Responsibilities
The Data Consultant role is central to enhancing the China team's autonomous data delivery capability and ensuring that data-led consulting projects are delivered with strong technical ownership, client relevance and commercial impact.
Key responsibilities include:
- Requirement Liaison & Solution Translation (20%):
- Shape commercially viable solutions: Partner with sales (CGBD) to understand client pain points, support feasibility assessment, data approach recommendation and scope shaping so proposed solutions are commercially viable, deliverable at the required quality level and aligned with client expectations.
- Inform scalable solution development: Translate client needs and project delivery learnings into clear requirements that help development and delivery teams automate repetitive activities, standardise approaches and scale data solutions effectively.
- Hands-on Project Delivery & Execution (70%):
- Independently own end-to-end project delivery: Lead data delivery for custom data studies, such as Industry Benchmarking (IB) and E-commerce (EC) analysis projects, including data extraction, cleaning, integration, analytical modelling, and visualization development.
