Software Engineer

The Role

You’ll lead critical backend initiatives for the millions of creatives using ComfyUI, building systems that run millions of AI workflows. This means building rock solid distributed systems, designing data models that support explosive growth, and solving difficult scaling and optimization problems. You will make code changes across open source ComfyUI and Comfy Cloud. Our stack is Python, Go, Kubernetes, and Postgres on the backend, but we care way more about your ability to learn and ship than whether you've used these exact languages before.

You might be a good fit if

• You enjoy having high levels of ownership to ship high quality features

• You habitually invent novel solutions to solve hard problems

• You've build a great product before, and care about the user experience as much as the engineering behind it

• You have a strong understanding of distributed systems and scaled large systems before

What you'll do

• Work with a cross-functional team to quickly ship features, often going from idea to production in days not weeks

• Ship features that directly impact millions of ComfyUI users

• Help shape our technical direction as we grow

Sample Projects

• Deploy ComfyUI’s diverse custom nodes written by the open source community in a secure and maintainable way

• Write algorithms to schedule a diverse and heterogenous set of workflows on GPU nodes, optimizing for both latency and throughput

• Build a notification system from scratch in one week

Nice to have

• Are not afraid to deep dive into infrastructure (Kubernetes / Helm) to get things done

If you don't know every piece of our stack, that's fine - we care about your ability to learn fast and ship quality code. We're outpacing the industry by learning what we need to solve problems, not by sticking to what we already know.

About Comfy

Comfy (https://www.comfy.org) is the AI creation engine for visual professionals who demand control over every model, every parameter, and every output. The most powerful workflow engine for visual AI.

Unlike tools that hide everything behind a prompt box, Comfy lets you connect models, processing steps, and outputs on a canvas where every decision is visible and every step is inspectable. It gives you the building blocks to create workflows nobody's imagined yet, and share them with everyone.

What started as an open-source project in 2023 now has 4 million users, 60,000+ community-built nodes, and 150,000+ daily downloads. It's used by artists, filmmakers, game studios, designers, researchers, and VFX houses, including teams at OpenAI, Netflix, Amazon Studios, Ubisoft, EA, and Tencent.

We're a small, intense team in San Francisco. Our team comes from Stability AI and Google, and many contributed to the ComfyUI ecosystem long before working here. Low ego, high ownership. We work hard and demand a lot of each other, but we have fun. Everyone here is building something meaningful that will end up being our life's work.

If this mission excites you and you view yourself as top-tier talent, your future latent self is waiting for you at Comfy.

Check out our Github (https://github.com/comfyanonymous/ComfyUI) and blog (https://blog.comfy.org). We recently raised $30M at a $500M valuation. The round was led by Craft, with participation from Pace Capital, Chemistry, TruArrow, and others.
