Head of Hardware Design

You’ll be working with the engineering team.

This team runs on coffee with an infectious passion for building products that have never been built before. Our Flexible Energy Stack consists of the e^pack (battery pack) and e^pump (charging station) which together unlock 15-minute rapid charging.

Our philosophy: Break. Believe. Build

Break stuff. Break assumptions. Break the thumb rule.

Believe in the team. Believe in the process. Believe through failures.

Build fast. Build passionately. Build to simplify.

What you will do:

At Exponent, we unlocked the 15-minute rapid charging of a Battery pack as a result of our e^pump (Charging Station) and e^pack (Battery) working together. Hardware Engineering is an integral part of both these systems. Everything on the Hardware Side from Architecture Design, Component Selection, Schematic, Layout, Harness Design, Electrical Integration, EMI/EMC, and DFX impacts the 15-minute rapid charging behavior.

The Hardware Team that Solves the above problems is your product.

Your main focus is to define and build the Hardware Team for Exponent.

Responsibilities:

• Lead Hardware Team
• Own Engineering + Quality + Hiring + Team building
• Manage communication with internal and external resources, like supply chain, process engineering, and test validation teams
• Building capabilities in teams across various domains of Electrical Engineering
• Get. Set. Production. Take all of it to production
• Own team morale and culture
• Evaluate Project budgets and resource allocation.

The ideal candidate requires:

• 15+ years of experience in product development with successful product cycles.
• Good understanding of People ( Engineers)
• Experience in leading and building a product development team.
• Experience in taking Electromechanical components from Concept to Production (Design, Analysis, and DFX).
• Deep practical knowledge of Embedded and Power electronics hardware and good visibility of Firmware.
• Hands-on experience in working with cross-functional aspects of a hardware product - Like Mechanical packaging, Firmware development, Thermal design, Costing, etc.
• B.Tech/ M.Tech in Electrical/Electronics Engineering and sub-fields

What matters:

• Quality of work
• Approach towards problem-solving
• Dissatisfaction towards mediocre work
• Resilient attitude to bounce back after failing

About Us

Exponent simplifies energy for EVs.

Co-founded by Arun Vinayak (Ather Energy's Founding Partner & Former Chief Product Officer) and Sanjay Byalal (Former hardware strategic sourcing and cell strategy lead, Ather and Former Supply Chain Lead, HUL), Exponent focuses on solving two sides of the energy problem by building the e^pump (charging station) and e^pack (battery pack) which together unlock 15-min rapid charging.

The 200+ strong team of passionate builders have a ton of EV experience and are currently looking for more builders to join one of the best EV teams in India to build & scale Exponent.
