BAE Systems seeks a Senior Principal Electrical Engineer with Microelectronics experience to lead RF / Microwave module design of Broadband, High Power GaN / GaAs amplifiers as well as manage the execution of the amplifier projects. The candidate will lead design project teams to assess requirements, provide accurate cost and schedule assessments, develop compliant amplifier designs, meet Design To Unit Production Cost (DTUPC) targets, conduct thorough design reviews, validate amplifier performance, specify test requirements, identify critical processes, transition the design to full rate production, and support the product through its lifecycle (“OWN” the product). The candidate will be the primary point of contact for engineering execution of the product and interface with internal or external customers. As such, the ability to assess and draw conclusions from technical data and develop, implement, and manage planned activities to closure is essential. Design responsibilities include the RF circuit design required to execute the amplifier design and predict performance, as well as project production yield versus the specifications using various RF / Microwave design tools. This candidate will work closely across functions between Engineering, Operations / Manufacturing, Test Engineering, and Product Producibility and Launch (P2L) in an Integrated Product Team (IPT) environment.
The Role: In this role, you will:
- Lead cross-functional technical teams in development of new power amplifier module designs
- Perform RF/microwave design and module layout
- Perform design verification testing of modules
- Lead design reviews following BAE engineering processes
- Collaborate with the MMIC design team to develop custom GaN MMICs to meet module requirements
