- Strengthen WHS compliance and site safety systems, including risk assessments, safe work method statements, incident prevention, and audit readiness (requirements vary by state/territory)
- Drive operational performance through production planning, KPI management, cost control, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Provide technical input to mine planning and scheduling, drill-and-blast performance, geotechnical/ground control, and ventilation strategies (as applicable)
- Optimise processing plant performance (throughput, recovery, product quality) through troubleshooting and improvement projects (where applicable)
- Oversee maintenance and reliability strategies for mobile and fixed plant assets, including shutdown planning and asset performance improvement
- Manage contractors and service providers to ensure safe execution, quality delivery, and adherence to scope, schedule, and budget
- Support project execution and operational readiness activities, including commissioning support and change management
- Develop teams through coaching, competency development, and structured performance management
- Prepare clear reporting for operational leadership, governance, and stakeholder decision-making
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering, Geology/Geoscience, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Metallurgy/Mineral Processing, HSE/WHS, or a related discipline (or equivalent industry experience for certain operations/maintenance leadership roles)
- Typically 5–12+ years of progressive experience in mining, minerals processing, quarrying/aggregates, or comparable heavy industrial environments
- Demonstrated WHS capability, including practical risk management, incident investigation, and contractor safety control (noting mining WHS frameworks and regulators differ across jurisdictions)
