The Operations Engineering Intern will work on Scout’s Technical Services team and gain exposure to wind and solar operations and performance engineering. It provides an introduction to the renewable energy industry as well as the roles and responsibilities of a Reliability or Data Engineer.
Day to day activities will include collecting and analyzing data to troubleshoot wind and solar asset issues, as well as creating and promoting new analytics and processes to improve energy output and performance. The chosen applicant will gain industry critical knowledge on renewable asset operation, reporting, and performance metrics. They will develop their knowledge of wind turbine and solar data and systems to support the fleet. also work closely with other Scout team members to learn about real time monitoring, forecast and generation tracking, and operational models.
We will work with the chosen intern to assess their skills and interests and determine an appropriate individual project for them to work on with the support of the technical team. Potential projects include but are not limited to developing new machine learning models to identify fleet issues, enhancing fiberglass blade repairs and procedures, and investigating electrical and mechanical issues on wind turbine gearboxes and/or solar inverters. Upon the completion of the internship, they will give a final presentation (virtual or in person) to upper management on the project.
