Customer Success and Deployment Strategist

About Woven by ToyotaWoven by Toyota is enabling Toyota’s once-in-a-century transformation into a mobility company. Inspired by a legacy of innovating for the benefit of others, our mission is to challenge the current state of mobility through human-centric innovation — expanding what “mobility” means and how it serves society.
Our work centers on four pillars: AD/ADAS, our autonomous driving and advanced driver assist technologies; Arene, our software development platform for software-defined vehicles; Woven City, a test course for mobility; and Cloud & AI, the digital infrastructure powering our collaborative foundation. Business-critical functions empower these teams to execute, and together, we’re working toward one bold goal: a world with zero accidents and enhanced well-being for all.

TEAM

Toyota is redefining what it means to move. We're challenging the current state of mobility by enhancing the movement of people, goods, information and energy. Centered around three core concepts - A Living Laboratory™, Human-Centered, and Ever Evolving City™ - Woven City serves as a test course for mobility to fulfill our purpose of well-being for all.   We do this by bringing together a diverse community of people with a shared passion for the future of mobility to co-create, develop and refine innovative products and services. This cross-section of social infrastructure, mobility, and people provides a unique opportunity for inventors, residents and visitors to interact seamlessly with new technologies throughout daily life in an environment that emulates a real city.
Decarb Venture Studio is a venture creation organization within Woven by Toyota. Our mission is to democratize decarbonization: to move decarbonization from the work of a limited number of specialists into an accessible, practical activity that every organization and every person can take part in.
We combine the ownership, speed, and creativity of a startup with the scale, credibility, and real-world learning opportunities of Toyota. We do not build from assumptions alone. We learn from complex, real operations, identify repeatable patterns, and transform those insights into scalable software products that can create value far beyond Toyota.
Our first venture has moved from proof of concept into beta development. It is a B2B application that unifies operational infrastructure data such as electricity, gas, fuel, and water. We are building its data foundation using advanced IoT, AI, blockchain, and cloud technologies. We care as deeply about intuitive, consumer-grade user experience as we do about technical sophistication.
Decarb Venture Studio will not stop at one product. We will commercialize and scale the first service while continuously exploring the next opportunity through customer discovery, proofs of concept, and prototypes.
We follow a hybrid workstyle, combining office and remote work. Additionally, depending on future circumstances, business trips to Toyota Motor Corporation or the Toyota Group may be required.

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

We are looking for someone who is energized by complex customer environments and can move fluently between field observation, business process design, product thinking, implementation, and customer success.
You will spend time with customers, understand not only what they say but how work is actually performed, and identify the operational, organizational, and behavioral barriers that prevent a product from creating value.
You will design the path from first deployment to sustained adoption: customer discovery, success criteria, data and sensor readiness, onboarding, operating workflows, training, support, value measurement, and expansion.
This is not a conventional account management role. It is a hands-on venture-building role for someone who wants to prove customer value in reality and turn customer-specific learning into a repeatable product and go-to-market model.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Discover Customer Reality: Lead field discovery and understand customer operations, users, and opportunities
• Design Successful Deployments: Design deployments, business processes, onboarding, and operational readiness
• Drive Customer Adoption: Lead customer success, value realization, adoption, and continuous improvement
• Build a Repeatable Business: Convert customer learning into scalable products, Go-To-Market, and partner operating models
• Discover Future Opportunities: Identify unresolved customer problems and validate future venture opportunities

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Customer Discovery: Experience leading customer discovery, deployment, implementation, or customer success for B2B software
• Operational Understanding: Ability to translate complex customer operations into repeatable workflows and product requirements
• Deployment Leadership: Experience owning deployments from planning through adoption and operational handover
• Analytical & Cross-functional Leadership: Strong analytical ability and experience driving PMF with cross-functional teams
• Communication & Ownership: Native-level Japanese proficiency sufficient to understand context and nuance, business-level English proficiency sufficient to exchange information within the team, and the ability to thrive in an ambiguous startup environment

NICE TO HAVES

• Experience with industrial software, manufacturing, energy, climate tech, IoT, sensor deployment, operational technology, or facility operations
• Experience in an early-stage startup, founding team, venture studio, consulting team, or new-business organization where the operating model had to be created from scratch
• Experience improving product onboarding, activation, retention, and customer outcomes using product analytics and qualitative research
• Experience validating pricing, willingness to pay, paid conversion, or enterprise software value propositions
• Experience creating playbooks, partner enablement programs, case studies, training materials, or scalable customer-success processes
• Technical fluency sufficient to discuss data integrations, APIs, cloud systems, IoT devices, security constraints, and implementation risks with engineering teams
• Experience working across Japanese and international teams, customers, and partners =========================================================================Important Points・All interviews will be arranged via Google Meet, unless otherwise stated.・The same job descriptions are available in both English and Japanese; therefore, we kindly ask that you apply to only one version.・We kindly request that you submit your resume in English, if possible.
