Marketing Illustrator

Turn game worlds into marketing art players remember.

Supercell makes games for as many people as possible, games that are played for years and remembered forever. The Creative Studio’s job is to make sure the world sees those games at their best.

We’re looking for a Marketing Illustrator to join our Creative Studio team in Seoul and transform our characters, worlds, and stories into bold, memorable marketing art.

You’ll bring our characters to life beyond the mobile screen, creating beautiful key art, powerful character poses, and standout campaign assets. You’ll also help shape visual storytelling across animation, video, and other formats that connect our game worlds with players around the globe.

This is a hands-on, craft-led role built on trust and collaboration. You’ll work closely with game teams, marketing managers, creative producers, and artists specializing in graphic design, motion, and animation across our offices. You’ll be a highly collaborative partner while taking ownership of the illustration craft—bringing the expertise, independence, and judgment needed to move the work forward.

We’re not looking for someone who waits to be told what to do. We’re looking for someone who treats the work as their own: proactive, self-driven, and always pushing the quality further.

If you love games, characters, and imaginative worlds, care deeply about visual storytelling, and do your best work in close collaboration with others, this role is for you.

What You'll Be Doing

• •Create high-impact illustrations for marketing campaigns, social channels, app stores, game events, and other player-facing moments.

• Develop visual concepts that turn game characters and worlds into memorable stories while preserving what makes each game distinctive.

• Own the illustration process from initial thumbnails, sketches, and concept art through polished key art and production-ready assets. Provide draw-overs and paint-overs to keep teams and partners aligned.

• Work side by side with designers, motion artists, marketers, creative producers and game teams to turn open briefs into clear, compelling creative work.

• Help select and manage a trusted network of external illustrators, agencies, studios, and production partners. Brief and guide them with clear, actionable feedback while maintaining a high-quality bar throughout production.

• Adapt creative assets across channels and formats without losing the character, emotion, and core hook.

• Help ensure our work is world-class, authentic to our game worlds, and built to resonate with players for decades.

What You Have

• Five to ten years of experience in a similar role, setting artistic direction and creating hands-on work for marketing, games, or other character-driven entertainment.

• A standout portfolio of character-led illustration and visual storytelling.

• Advanced digital illustration skills and proficiency with industry-standard tools, supported by strong fundamentals in composition, anatomy, perspective, lighting, and color.

• Expertise in stylized character design, expressions, and posing, with the versatility to work across playful, graphic, and cinematic styles.

• The ability to originate strong ideas, explain your creative choices, and own the work from a loose brief to a finished asset.

• Experience communicating creative direction and providing clear, actionable feedback to internal teams and external partners, supported by hands-on visual guidance such as draw-overs and paint-overs.

• A low-ego, collaborative approach, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities independently.

• A genuine interest in games, animations, and related areas of pop culture, and the communities around them.

• Professional proficiency in spoken and written English.

• Availability to travel internationally several times a year.

• Practical knowledge of 2D and 3D animation pipelines is a plus.

About Supercell

Supercell is a games company from Helsinki, Finland, with offices also in San Francisco, Seoul, Shanghai, and London. You might know us as the makers of Hay Day, Clash of Clans, Boom Beach, Clash Royale, and Brawl Stars. Our mission is to create great games that as many people as possible play for years and that are remembered forever.

So, how do we make great games? By putting together the best teams and giving them the freedom and independence to succeed. And by taking risks, failing, sharing learnings, and killing lots of projects.

Hey, You Might Love It Here!

Independent cells and trust are at the core of our culture. But it takes more than that to make great games. We take good care of our people, providing them with the compensation, work environment, and resources they need to succeed while having fun along the way.

You Are Not Your Job Title ™

Here, you won’t need to focus on chasing titles or climbing ladders. Internally, our job titles don’t include prefixes like Senior, Junior, Principal, or Director. Recognition isn’t tied to your title, as it doesn't define the impact you can have around here.

Benefits and Compensation

Luring you in with glitter, glamour, and gems isn't what we're about. We want you to enjoy your time here fully, so we structure our compensation and benefits with that in mind. It starts with perceiving you as a human being, not a resource.

Relocation? Yes!

No matter where you’re moving from, our dedicated mobility team and partners will support you throughout your move. We’ll ensure the process is as smooth as possible for you and anyone joining you – whether they’re family members of the human or animal kind!

Not Sure if You Should Apply?

Many candidates with great skills and experience second-guess themselves. The bar is high, but if this role excites you, apply! We’re here to help you succeed. Also, we're happy to learn about any specific accommodations you may need to fully engage in our recruitment process.

Wishing you all the best,
The Supercell Recruitment team
