Job Description
BAE Systems is seeking a high-level Senior Project Manager, Construction Management to provide strategic leadership and full accountability for large-scale facility modernization and expansion projects within Combat Mission Systems (CMS).
This is a high-autonomy role requiring a visionary leader who can operate independently to translate internal investment strategies into executable construction programs. You will be responsible for the entire project lifecycle from initial requirement definition and estimation to final delivery, utilizing Earned Value Management (EVM) to ensure rigorous performance tracking and financial stewardship.
Key Responsibilities include:
Strategic Leadership & Execution
- Autonomous Program Ownership: Exercise full authority over the planning and execution of complex Capital Investment projects (ranging from $50M to $300M) with minimal oversight.
- Construction Strategy: Determine and manage the most effective delivery methods (e.g., Design-Build, Design-Bid-Build, CM-at-Risk) based on project constraints and organizational goals.
- Roadmap Development: Translate enterprise capital plans into executable strategies and long-range roadmaps that support organizational growth and operational efficiency.
Project Controls & Financial Stewardship
- Performance Measurement (EVM): Establish and maintain rigorous performance baselines. Use Earned Value Management (EVM) to measure schedule/cost variance and provide predictive analysis to executive leadership.
- P&L Management: Manage the full financial lifecycle of internal investments, ensuring strict budget adherence and optimal allocation of capital.
- Preconstruction Planning: Oversee feasibility analysis, budgeting, value engineering, and risk assessments, ensuring strong stage-gate discipline prior to authorization.
Operational Oversight & Governance
- Construction Management: Lead teams responsible for site management, constructability reviews, site logistics, and labor productivity.
- Vendor & Risk Governance: Oversee prime contractors and suppliers, ensuring adherence to stringent quality standards and proactively mitigating risks to the critical path.
- Safety & Compliance: Champion a zero-incident safety culture and ensure total compliance with all regulatory, environmental, and quality standards.
Stakeholder Engagement & People Leadership
- Executive Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact for executive leadership and government customers, delivering transparent, data-driven reports on program health.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Real Estate, Engineering, Operations, SHE, Security, Finance, and Procurement to align project objectives.
