About Hebrew Public

Hebrew Public is a small and growing network of schools operated by Hebrew Public: Charter Schools for Global Citizens. Hebrew Public is a secular organization that welcomes candidates of all backgrounds into a supportive and inclusive community.

Across the network, Hebrew Public schools serve children from all backgrounds and help students become global citizens who are strong problem solvers, aware communicators, and lifelong learners committed to making a positive difference in the world around them. Our schools are models of racial and economic integration, academic excellence, and world language learning.

Why PHP?

As part of Hebrew Public, Philadelphia Hebrew Public teachers and staff bring our mission to life with students from more than 40 zip codes across Philadelphia, primarily Black and Brown students whose brilliance, curiosity, and potential drive our work every day.

PHP is rooted in the belief that every student deserves excellent teachers and an outstanding education. Through rigorous academics, strong relationships, and a globally minded education, we help students expand what they see as possible for themselves.

We also invest in educators. Teachers receive coaching, collaborative planning, professional development, certification support, and opportunities to grow into leadership roles. Our compensation model recognizes teacher skill, growth, and classroom impact, not simply years of experience. After their first year, eligible teachers may qualify for 5% up to 10% annual salary increases based on their impact in the classroom, without needing additional graduate coursework.

For educators who want to make a meaningful difference while growing their own careers, PHP offers the opportunity to do both.

You don’t need to speak Hebrew to apply, and we strongly encourage candidates from traditionally underrepresented groups to join our community.

The Opportunity

We are always open to meeting skilled, student-centered educators who may be a strong fit for future Special Education Teacher opportunities. Philadelphia’s education community is a small world, and we value building relationships with excellent teachers, even when we do not have an immediate opening.

This evergreen talent-pipeline posting may not represent a current vacancy. Applications will be reviewed as staffing needs arise, and our Talent Team may contact candidates whose experience aligns with an available opportunity.

Special Education roles at PHP vary based on student needs. Teachers may provide push-in or pull-out services or lead a classroom serving students with moderate support needs. Across settings, Special Education Teachers deliver highly individualized instruction, implement IEPs, monitor student progress, and collaborate closely with families, general education teachers, service providers, and school leaders.

Teachers who lead classrooms for students with moderate support needs are also responsible for leading and supporting paraprofessionals, establishing clear roles and routines, providing ongoing guidance and feedback, and ensuring that instructional, behavioral, and individualized supports are implemented consistently.

• Deliver highly individualized, standards-aligned instruction based on each student’s strengths, needs, and IEP goals
• Provide push-in, pull-out, small-group, and/or specialized classroom instruction depending on the role
• Lead a classroom serving students with moderate support needs, when applicable
• Develop, implement, and monitor high-quality Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
• Use assessment and progress-monitoring data to adjust instruction and accelerate student growth
• For moderate-needs classroom roles, lead and support paraprofessionals by setting clear expectations, coordinating student supports, and providing ongoing guidance and feedback
• Partner with general education teachers to adapt curriculum, instruction, accommodations, and classroom supports
• Maintain high expectations while creating a structured, inclusive, and supportive learning environment
• Support students’ academic, social-emotional, behavioral, and functional development

• Advocate for students and ensure they have meaningful access to rigorous learning experiences
• Participate in coaching, collaborative planning, professional development, and feedback
• Model our OLAM values: outstanding problem-solving, lifelong learning, aware communication, and making a difference
