Software Engineering Director

AXS connects fans with the artists and teams they love. Each year we sell millions of tickets to thousands of incredible events – from concerts and festivals to sports and theater – at some of the most iconic venues in the world. Since our founding in 2011, we’ve consistently pushed the industry forward and improved experiences for fans, making it easier than ever to discover events, find the perfect seats, and enjoy unforgettable live entertainment, and we continue to lead the evolution of our industry today.

We’re passionate about improving the fan experience and providing game-changing solutions for our clients, and we’re always looking for smart, motivated people to help make it happen. Bring your enthusiasm, your big ideas, and your desire to team up with some of the best and brightest in technology and entertainment.

About The Role
We're looking for a Sr. Director of Engineering to lead and grow the team behind AX’s next generation of B2B tools. You will lead the team on a multi- year journey building best in class application that enables our live event customers to create, configure, sell, and manage events

You'll partner closely with your product counterpart to shape both the direction of the product and the underlying technology that makes it possible; sequencing the work, derisking the hard problems, and making the architectural calls that serve fans and clients at scale. This is a high-growth, fast-paced charter: the demands on the platform are growing quickly, and your job is to build the team and the systems to stay ahead of that demand.

Just as importantly, you'll grow the people under you — developing engineers and emerging leaders so the team's bench deepens as the charter expands. This is a hands on position where you will drive results through small teams of highly capable people and through leveraging AI to scale yourself and your teams.

Responsibilities
● Lead a team of high-caliber engineers: owning hiring, the development of your people, and a culture where strong engineers do their best work and stay
● Own the development efforts behind the AXS’s event configuration tools that enable event sponsors to create and manage events through their entire lifecycle
● Partner deeply with your product counterpart to shape the direction of the product and the underlying technology, from roadmap through architecture
● Set technical direction and bring clarity to a fast-moving, high-growth charter: sequencing the work and derisking large initiatives
● Scale the platform to meet rapidly growing demand while holding a high bar on reliability, performance, and quality
● Make sound architectural decisions across a broad surface and keep the team aligned as priorities shift
● Grow the next layer of engineering leadership by developing engineers and senior ICs so the team can take on more

You may be a good fit if you
● Have 7+ years of technical and management leadership experience
● Have 10+ years of hands-on experience designing and building software platforms
● Have experience coding in .NET or Node.js
● Have worked in a continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) environment
● Have experience working with and deploying to cloud environments
● Have experience with logging, monitoring, and alerting tools and best practices
● Hold a BS in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience
● Communicate clearly, build trust with product and cross-functional partners, and keep stakeholders aligned through ambiguity
● Are currently using AI tools to scale

Strong candidates may also have experience with
● Containers and container orchestration
● AWS or comparable cloud-native architecture at scale
● Marketplace, payments, or third-party integration systems
● High-throughput, high-availability consumer-facing platforms

At AXS, we are dedicated to building a diverse, inclusive and authentic workplace, so if you’re excited about this role but can't "check every box" in the job description, we encourage you to apply anyway. You may be the right candidate for this or other roles.

Pay Scale: $261,000 – $290,000
