Why This Role Matters
As a Community Organizer, you will play a key role in advancing Planned Parenthood South Atlantic's (PPSAT) mission by building grassroots power and mobilizing supporters throughout South Carolina. You'll cultivate meaningful relationships with volunteers, community leaders, and coalition partners while driving advocacy, civic engagement, and electoral efforts that protect and expand access to sexual and reproductive health care. This is an exciting opportunity to organize year-round campaigns that create lasting community impact and help elect leaders who champion reproductive freedom.
What We're Looking For
We're seeking a passionate, relationship-driven organizer who thrives in community settings and is energized by building movements for change. The ideal candidate will have:
-
Experience organizing in South Carolina, particularly in electoral, issue-based, or community organizing.
-
A passion for reproductive freedom, abortion access, and health equity.
-
At least two years of paid or volunteer grassroots organizing experience.
-
Experience using organizing tactics such as canvassing, phone banking, relational organizing, and volunteer mobilization.
-
The ability to organize effectively in fast-paced, deadline-driven, or rapid-response environments.
-
Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills with the ability to engage diverse communities.
-
Confidence in public speaking and representing an organization in community settings.
-
Excellent organizational, time management, and project management skills.
-
The ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a cross-functional team.
-
A commitment to equity, inclusion, and community-centered organizing.
What You'll Do
As a Community Organizer, you'll build grassroots power by recruiting, training, and mobilizing volunteers while strengthening relationships across your assigned region. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Community Organizing & Volunteer Engagement
-
Recruit, train, mentor, and mobilize volunteers and community leaders to advance PPSAT's advocacy and electoral priorities.
-
Develop and maintain a strong volunteer network through grassroots outreach, voter engagement, leadership development, and community events.
-
Build authentic relationships with community members, coalition partners, and local organizations.
