Role Description
As a Special Projects Deployment Engineer, you are our high-impact tactical asset. You will be responsible for traveling directly to various regional markets to turn raw spaces into fully operational network nodes. This role is critical for execution and elite troubleshooting.
Unlike standard desk-bound engineering roles, this position offers the autonomy of the road and the satisfaction of physically building out the network infrastructure that drives our business growth. You see the immediate, tangible impact of your engineering work every single day.
In this role, you’ll:
-
Rack & Stack Execution: Physically install, mount, and secure network hardware including routers, switches, firewalls, out-of-band management gear, and power distribution units (PDUs).
-
Structured Cabling: Perform precise physical layer patches, including copper (Cat6) and fiber optic (singlemode/multimode) installations. Ensure clean cable management, proper labeling, and adherence to structural standards.
-
Power & Environmental Verification: Verify power redundancy, circuit allocations, and thermal cooling alignment before energizing critical hardware.
-
Site Acceptance Testing: Execute standardized test scripts to verify line-rate throughput, optical power levels, and redundant failover paths before handing the site over to the Network Operations Center (NOC).
-
Field Diagnosis: Act as the primary technical point of failure resolution when remote engineering teams lose connectivity or visibility into a site.
-
Optical Layer Testing: Utilize specialized field tools (e.g., OTDRs, optical power meters, fiber scopes) to diagnose and fix physical fiber breaks, dirty patches, or degraded optics.
At a minimum, we would like you to have:
