Creative Strategist

**Who we are
**

Semafor is a global news platform for an increasingly complex world in which consumers are overwhelmed by too many news sources and unsure what to trust. We are building Semafor to enable world-class journalists to deliver reporting and insights with rigor in journalistic forms that ensure a new level of transparency. Our editors and reporters distill the most important stories from all over in formats that uncover the forces shaping the stories, explain the interests behind polarizing narratives, and replenish the stock of shared facts. As a global platform, Semafor recognizes that smart people can disagree and that informed readers need to understand alternative points of view from competing centers of power and culture in a multi-polar world. About this Role

Senior Creative Strategists develop original media strategies, brand narratives, and strategic platforms and ideas, codified into thoughtful proposals to share with partners across industries and markets, focusing on New York, DC, Africa, and Gulf regions. In this role, you will be expected to understand your clients’ priorities and challenges, and authoritatively operationalize cross-functional processes to develop best-in-class presentations and proposal deliverables. This role will work closely with other Creative Strategists on the team as well as the Sales team, Revenue Operations team, and broader marketing teams.

Your Responsibilities

• Create and visually design thoughtful, strategic, and engaging proposals, typically in visual presentation format, that clearly and concisely communicate ideas/concepts that map back to key advertiser objectives and KPIs.
• Be a subject matter expert on Semafor’s brand and products. Understand and build on Semafor’s brand story on behalf of clients.
• Engage with genuine curiosity and interest in deeply understanding clients’ brand challenges, priorities, and objectives.
• Utilize research and data to articulate and support strategies and creative ideas.
• Take a lead role, driving processes and operationalizing the organization with sales leads and post-sale teams, ensuring consistency in pre-to post-sale transition.
• Show a clear and convincing connection between a client’s brand challenge and proposed partnership solutions.
• Leverage a solid understanding of the media landscape, including expertise in new and emerging media platforms as well as off-platform opportunities, to elevate the ideas we present to clients.
• Lead brainstorms both internally with cross-functional teams, client partnership leads, agencies, and clients to clarify asks, gather critical intel, and craft winning proposals.
• Work directly with Semafor leadership on high-profile C-Suite pitches and presentations.
• Demonstrate strong presentation skills in both internal and external client meetings — articulating strategic ideas with clarity and confidence, and representing the Semafor brand with polish and authority.

What makes you qualified

• Bachelor's degree plus a minimum of 4-6 years of experience in advertiser marketing or sales.
• Excellent communication, design, presentation and interpersonal skills.
• Strong project management and organizational skills, and the ability to manage many different work streams at once.
• Experience developing brand, creative, or marketing strategies for clients — especially blue-chip B2B organizations.
• Demonstrated ability to generate revenue through marketing strategies.
• Approaches revenue opportunities with curiosity, ingenuity, and originality.
• Feels deep ownership of their work.
• This is an in-person role, with 4 days a week expected in our New York or Washington D.C. office. There may be some travel on an as-needed basis.
• Must have advanced skills with Google Workspace and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Google Slides/Powerpoint.
