About Proton

Join Proton and build a better internet where privacy is the default

Proton was founded in 2014 by scientists from CERN on a simple truth: privacy is a fundamental human right. Since then, we’ve built the world’s largest encrypted email service (Proton Mail) and expanded into Proton VPN, Proton Drive, Proton Pass, and Proton Calendar—tools used by millions globally to protect their freedom, fight censorship, and keep their data safe. In some situations, Proton has literally helped save lives!

We are profitable, independent (no VC control), and selectively hire from the top ~1% of applicants. Our 500+ team members across 50+ countries come from leading organizations and elite academic backgrounds. We move fast, keep hierarchy light, and prioritize impact over optics. If you want to do meaningful work with exceptionally high-caliber people, this is it. Join us and do work you can truly be proud of. Check our open-source projects here!

The Meet Team: With Meet, your calls remain private. No third parties—advertisers, hackers, spying governments, or even us—can access your calls. As a Frontend Engineer in the Meet team, you will play a key role in building intuitive, performant, and secure user experiences for our communication platform.

You will be responsible for developing and maintaining user-facing features, ensuring seamless interactions, responsiveness, and high-quality UI across devices. Working closely with backend, design, and other teams, you will help deliver features that are both reliable and user-centric.

You will advocate for clean, maintainable code and strong frontend architecture, while balancing performance, accessibility, and rapid feature delivery to provide the best experience for our users.   Tech Stack and Tools:

• Our frontend is built with React and Rust
• Our backend API is based on PHP/Symfony
• All our client-code is open-source and GPL3.
• We are migrating our infrastructure to Kubernetes
• Everything runs on premise in Proton's data-centers
• To organize our work we use classic tools such as Jira and Confluence

What you will do:
We believe in small empowered teams that focus on delivering large impact. This requires strong engineers with product engineering mindset who can collaborate well, take ownership, and do whatever is needed to achieve our ambitious goals. Join a global team to shape Proton Meet, which was launched in 2026 to provide free encrypted video calls for all.   What we are looking for:
