About Fero:

Fero is on a mission to transform the $2 trillion global drinks industry. Our unique approach to financing, logistics, commercial infrastructure, and automation is unlocking new possibilities across the supply chain, giving us exceptional traction and the ability to innovate and scale like no one before us.

The role

A staff level individual contributor working across our core platform: the infrastructure the product runs on and the services it is built from

The role sits within a small, high-performing engineering team that works across disciplines

You would help set the technical direction for our infrastructure, and own significant pieces of work end to end

There is a lot to take on and plenty of scope to shape both what we build and how we build it. The more you want to own, the better

What you’ll own

Production AWS: ECS, RDS Postgres, S3, networking, IAM, cost

Backend services in our main Java codebase, and the developer experience around all of it

Infrastructure as code, and the release path through GitHub Actions

Reliability and observability: Datadog, alerting, tested backup and restore, runbooks

Examples of what you might work on

Integrations: connectivity between our platform and the ERPs, warehouses and banks we connect to

Identity and access: bringing one coherent multi-tenancy model across our applications

Reducing complexity: spotting where the estate can be simplified as we grow

Core backend services: fee calculations and accruals, pricing across currencies and jurisdictions, tracking physical stock around the world

New infrastructure: standing up what the business needs, often at short notice

What we’re looking for

Essential

A record of driving substantial work from problem to production on your own initiative

Real enthusiasm for getting into unfamiliar problems and working them out

Production AWS experience, including when it goes wrong

Strong backend development experience building and running production services. Our core codebase is Java / Kotlin

Infrastructure as code in any tool

Highly valuable

Identity and access: OIDC, SAML, multi-tenant models

GitHub Actions at depth
