Production Director

Mojang Studios is best known as the creators of Minecraft, but we’re also on a mission – to build a better world through the power of play.

Why play? Well, play is at the heart of everything we do. It’s the blocky backbone of our games, the core of our development philosophy, and even the origin of our name. From the relentless experimentation of our endlessly inspiring community to the classrooms where Minecraft has become an essential teaching tool, play is the bedrock of our existence.

About the Role

Minecraft is more than a game. It’s a global platform for creativity, connection, and play, supported by a constant flow of updates, campaigns, content, experiences, and partnerships that reach millions of players around the world.

We’re looking for an Associate Production Director to lead creative production across Minecraft Core Marketing. This is a senior production leadership role for someone who can bring big creative ideas to life through strong production leadership and execution. You’ll lead Producers, connect priorities across teams and build the plans, capacity, investment and production systems needed to deliver great creative work at scale.

As a strategic partner to Creative and Marketing leadership, you’ll bring clarity to ambiguity, balance creative ambition with operational reality, and turn business priorities into results.

Key Responsibilities

• Accountable for production strategy, roadmap planning, intake, and prioritization across global campaigns, content, live-service marketing, social and partner initiatives.

• Accountable for end-to-end portfolio delivery, on time, on budget and at the expected creative quality and brand standards. Partner with Creative Leadership to translate ambitious ideas into feasible, effective execution.

• Lead, coach, and develop Producers, supporting hiring and onboarding while establishing clear roles, expectations, decision-making responsibilities and accountability.

• Drive alignment across internal stakeholders and external partners on goals, scope, timelines, dependencies and trade-offs. Represent production in leadership forums, communicating delivery status, risks and mitigation plans.

• Accountable for production budgets, including forecasting, allocation, and reconciliation. Partner with Production Director and Operations on capacity and resource planning aligned to business priorities and constraints.

• Accountable for agency and vendor strategy, including partner selection, scoping and performance management, optimizing cost, speed, quality and scale.

• Establish scalable production systems, workflows and governance, including standards for briefing, approvals, asset management, localization, and distribution across channels.

• Drive continuous improvement using data, portfolio insights, capacity signals, automation, and AI to strengthen forecasting, prioritization, efficiency, and delivery predictability.  Build resuable production models that support Minecraft’s evolving live-service rhythm.

What You'll Need to Succeed

• 10+ years experience in producing end-to-end global marketing and live service campaigns, with a track record of leading large-scale, multi-stream portfolios from concept through delivery.

• Experience leading and developing Producers or project managers and building collaborative, high-performing teams.

• Deep expertise in budgeting, forecasting, resourcing, capacity planning, and agency/vendor management.

• Strong understanding of end-to-end creative production, including campaign development, asset production, approvals, localisation and distribution.

• Ability to operate strategically and hands-on, scaling production systems while engaging in the detail needed to deliver.

• Strong leadership presence, senior stakeholder management, and influencing skills, with sound judgement in fast-moving, ambiguous environments.

• A collaborative, data-informed approach and curiosity about how technology, automation, and AI can improve creative production.

Bonus

• Significant experience producing end-to-end, complex marketing and live services campaigns for AAA game launches, updates and initiatives.

• Experience building scalable production frameworks, portfolio planning practices, or creative operations functions in global organizations.

• Experience leveraging automation, AI tools, or data-informed planning approaches to improve team effectiveness.

What You Need to Know

We’re looking for candidates who are eligible to work in Sweden. Since our hybrid work model requires three onsite days per week, you’ll need to be based in Stockholm to collaborate with your team and soak up the studio energy.

Mojang Studios

Mojang Studios is a Microsoft-owned game developer. The company was founded in Stockholm, Sweden and has offices around the world, including Stockholm, Redmond, Tokyo, London, and Shanghai. We’re always working on new and exciting ways to expand the Minecraft universe.

Our community is global and incredibly diverse. We keep this in mind when developing anything, as we want people to feel included in Minecraft. And in recruiting, our goal is to make Mojang Studios as diverse as our community.

We got started as a tiny indie developer, and part of our culture still reflects that heritage. But we’re also proud to belong to Xbox Game Studios, which creates unique opportunities to grow and develop.

To help us achieve amazing things, we have built an equally amazing studio space. Situated right on the water by Söder Mälarstrand, it’s filled to the brim with all the tools, toys and caffeine required to create world-class entertainment.

But in the end, it’s the people of Mojang Studios that make this place truly special. When you join, you’ll find yourself in the company of incredibly bright, warm, and creative individuals – all united and working toward a single goal. Come help us reach it!
