Veterinary Services Extern

Who is VetEvolve?

VetEvolve is a network of veterinary practices built to support the people delivering care and the practices they lead. We combine clinical insight with operational strength to give our teams the support, tools, and structure they need to thrive, without losing what makes each practice unique. We are intentionally focused on growth, not as an end in itself, but as a way to strengthen our practices, expand access to care, and create more opportunities for our teams.

Guided by our values: Care First. Better Together. Grow Forward. Own It. We create an environment where veterinary professionals can do their best work, build meaningful careers, and deliver exceptional care. Growth with intention. Care without compromise.

Veterinary Student Externship

About the hospital: Founded in 1981 by Dr. Tim Sorrells, Manchester Veterinary Services is a long-standing and reputable companion animal practice in Manchester, Maryland. Now owned by Dr. Julie Baker and Dr. Jeff Callahan, the practice recently completed a 10-year equipment and facility improvement process. In September 2020, Manchester Veterinary Services opened a brand new location three minutes north of the former clinic’s site. With this new expansion and updated equipment, the practice is able to offer a broader range of services to its clients.

Along with routine veterinary work, Manchester Veterinary Services offers x-ray, dental, ultrasound, surgery, and therapy laser services, among others. While the practice does not do routine grooming, its staff will occasionally perform sedated cat grooming. The staff acts just as a family would — they joke and poke fun at each other, all while providing the highest level of care for their patients. The practice promotes career progression and has already assisted two VAs through the RVT program and helped them obtain licenses.

• “They allow me the freedom to practice as I see fit…We can make almost all of our main decisions ourselves, at the clinic level. Their up front focus on honesty and improving over time keeps surprising me each time they demonstrate it. Veterinary medicine is not always the prettiest, easiest, happiest, or most satisfying line of work as we all know, but I can't imagine doing it for any other group. VetEvolve has been able to retain a small feel over time, as it grows, which is huge for me.” - VetEvolve network DVM.
