About Akuna:
Akuna Capital is an innovative trading firm with a strong focus on collaboration, cutting-edge technology, data driven solutions and automation. We specialise in providing liquidity as an options market maker – meaning we are committed to providing competitive quotes that we are willing to both buy and sell. To do this successfully we design and implement our own low latency technologies, trading strategies and mathematical models. At Akuna we have a flat structure, where the best idea wins.
Our Founding Partners, including Andrew Killion, first conceptualized Akuna in their hometown of Sydney. They opened the firm’s first office in 2011 in the heart of the derivatives industry and the options capital of the world – Chicago. Today, Akuna is proud to operate from additional offices in Sydney, Shanghai, Singapore and London.
What you’ll do as a Platform Engineer at Akuna:
This is an exciting role where you will be given the opportunity to take ownership of projects and make them your own. At Akuna, we are constantly looking for ways to improve our efficiency as we continue to grow. You will design and implement cloud solutions, automate infrastructure as code, improve cloud governance and security, and monitor our hybrid-cloud environments. In this role, you will:
- Ensure cloud services are leveraged to their full potential (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and best practices are being followed
- Help manage our public cloud growth and continuously improve Akuna’s hybrid-cloud operating model
- Evaluate proposed solution architectures and provide recommendations
- Provision, configure, upgrade, and monitor technologies such as Kubernetes (EKS and on-premise), Spark, Kafka, and other large-scale distributed databases
- Automate infrastructure management and development pipelines with tools like Terraform, Ansible, Jenkins and GitLab
- Explore new technologies in the cloud-native/container ecosystem
- Work with Infrastructure and Development teams to monitor systems, clusters and cloud deployments to detect errors and monitor performance
- Adhere to the engineering mindset of creating and maintaining performant and reliable production systems
Qualities that make great candidates:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
- 5+ years of experience in Platform Engineering, Cloud Engineering, SRE, DevOps, or related infrastructure roles
