CertificationsCertified Records Manager, Information Governance Professional
This is an opportunity to build the information governance function for Legal & Corporate at CC&L Financial Group. The Information Governance Manager – Legal & Corporate is a new role, reporting to the General Counsel. You will have the mandate to design how legal and corporate information is structured, governed, retained and made accessible across the organization. You will lead major initiatives spanning information architecture, document and records management, knowledge management, and AI readiness, working closely with Legal, Information Systems, AI Enablement, HR and Accounting. Starting with Legal & Corporate, you will create a practical governance model with the potential to scale across CC&LFG and its affiliates.
Why this role is different This is not a maintenance role. You will join at an early stage in the development of our information governance capability and have the opportunity to shape its direction. You will work at the intersection of Legal, technology, knowledge management and AI, with exposure across multiple business functions and CC&LFG affiliates. You will have significant ownership over the design of the function and the opportunity to recommend the standards, systems and operating model that will support it.
What You Will Do:
- Build the information governance framework. Design and implement the taxonomy, metadata, information architecture, naming conventions and retention framework for legal and corporate information, including retention schedules, defensible disposition and legal hold procedures.
- Reshape Legal's document environment. Lead the re-implementation of the legal document management system, with support from the broader team as appropriate, including architecture, document organization, post-implementation processes, and the integration approach between NetDocuments and SharePoint, including migration and system-of-record decisions.
- Create a trusted information foundation. Establish practical information management standards and identify and remediate duplicate, outdated, ownerless or superseded content across legal and corporate repositories, improving searchability, accessibility and the quality of information available to users and technology.
- Reinforce Legal's knowledge management capability. Lead the creation of a structured library of precedents, templates, playbooks and other reference materials, and develop practical processes for maintaining and using Legal's institutional knowledge.
- Enable AI and emerging technology. Partner closely with the AI Enablement and Information Systems teams to establish the trusted information foundation required for AI agents, copilots and other emerging technologies.
- Scale the model. Extend the information governance framework to shared legal files and, over time, HR and Accounting records, supporting potential rollout across CC&LFG and its affiliates and providing guidance and standards to data librarian roles.
