Mission Brief
We are looking for a highly motivated Engineering Intern to support the development and validation of engine cycle calculation models and associated component databases. You will contribute to the development and validation of propulsion system analysis tools that directly support engine design and testing activities.
Your Role in Our Space Mission:
- Support the migration of engine component characterization data into a scalable and maintainable database structure.
- Develop and implement a graphical user interface (GUI) that enables engineers, technicians, and other stakeholders to efficiently interact with parameter database.
- Perform statistical analysis of historical engine operating data and engine load point prediction data to identify trends, outliers, and data quality issues.
- Develop data visualization tools and automated analysis workflows to support model calibration, validation, and engineering decision-making.
- Support the definition and evaluation of dedicated test cases to verify orifice modelling assumptions and improve model fidelity.
- Conduct sensitivity studies to assess the impact of key orifice design features on model performance and engine behavior.
Qualification Checklist
- Currently enrolled in an MSc program in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a comparable technical discipline.
- Solid understanding of fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, and propulsion systems.
- Experience with Python for data analysis, software development, and database implementation.
- Knowledge of statistical analysis methods and data visualization techniques.
- Strong analytical skills and a structured, data-driven problem-solving approach.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Driven, curious, and eager to learn, with a passion for New Space and excellent English communication skills.
Bonus Skills
- Experience with GUI development using frameworks such as PyQt, Tkinter, Streamlit, Dash, or similar is an advantage.
- Hands-on experience with rocket engine cycle analysis and propulsion system development.
- Exposure to real engine test data and component characterization activities.
- Practical experience in engineering software, database development, and model validation.
Benefits
- Subsidised lunch: Stay energised with delicious, subsidised lunches every day
- Flexible mobility budget: Travel your way with a choice between a fully financed Deutschlandticket or a fuel allowance
