Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry. This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.
Role Purpose
Corning's Optical Communications segment is a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry. As a Vision Engineer, you will lead the development, implementation, and transfer of machine vision systems — driving quality inspection, process monitoring, and data collection to support new product and process introductions. This is a hands-on, ownership-oriented role for an experienced machine vision engineer ready to take technical lead across cross-functional teams and mentor others.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, and implementation of machine vision applications for new products and manufacturing processes
- Own the transfer of completed vision systems to plant teams, including documentation, training, and knowledge handoff to ensure sustained performance
- Apply machine learning (ML) and advanced imaging techniques to automate quality inspection and process monitoring
- Collaborate with process and engineering teams to develop solutions and provide technical direction to less experienced engineers
- Utilize statistical analysis and optimization techniques to improve process capability and efficiency
