About Mi-Tech
Mi-Tech provides engineering, design, environmental, laboratory, technical, and field support for utility, infrastructure, and heavy civil projects. Founded in 1985 and part of the Michels Family of Companies, we bring engineering and construction expertise together to develop practical solutions from planning and design through construction.
About the role
As an Associate Engineer in our trenchless division, you’ll help design and support underground infrastructure projects involving horizontal directional drilling (HDD), tunneling, auger boring, direct steerable pipe thrusting, and microtunneling.
Our projects involve pipeline and utility crossings beneath rivers, highways, railroads, and other sensitive areas, serving a wide range of sectors, including municipal water and wastewater, renewable energy such as offshore wind farms, and oil and natural gas infrastructure.”
Working alongside experienced engineers, you’ll perform calculations and engineering analyses, evaluate subsurface conditions, develop trenchless designs, assess potential construction impact, and provide technical support during construction. You’ll also prepare construction drawings using AutoCAD as part of the design process.
This role combines engineering analysis, design, report writing, and field experience. You’ll build on your knowledge of soil mechanics, geotechnical engineering, geology, and engineering mechanics while learning how ground conditions and construction methods influence design decisions.
Why Mi-Tech?
- Develop specialized trenchless engineering skills while solving challenging design and construction problems.
- Learn from experienced engineers and recognized industry experts through mentorship and progressively challenging assignments.
- Gain field experience, company-supported training, and experience toward PE licensure working under licensed engineers.
- Join a family-owned organization backed by the engineering and construction resources of the Michels Family of Companies.
What makes you a good fit?
- You are curious, eager to learn, and enjoy applying engineering fundamentals to unfamiliar problems.
- You take pride in accurate work and want to see how your solutions perform in the field.
- You communicate clearly, work well with others, and take responsibility for your assignments.
