Riva is seeking an experienced Software Developer to join our engineering team and help design, build, and evolve the backend systems powering revenue-critical workflows for large, complex organizations. In this role, you’ll take ownership of meaningful systems and domains, translating complex or ambiguous problems into scalable, reliable solutions. You bring strong C#/.NET expertise, sound technical judgment, and a proactive, customer-aware mindset—partnering closely with Product, Architecture, and Engineering teammates to raise the bar for quality, performance, and continuous improvement.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
Reporting to the Senior Engineering Manager, you'll build and evolve backend systems that power revenue-critical workflows for large, complex organizations. You'll work on a mature product with real-scale, real customers, and real tradeoffs. This role is for someone who owns systems, not just features, and sets the technical bar for their team.
-
Design systems and components (sync mechanisms, APIs, microservices, data models), anticipating failure modes, performance, security, and operations.
-
Own a significant system or domain, often spanning more than one Program Increment.
-
Turn ambiguous problems into shippable plans and drive delivery without prompting.
-
Set the testing and quality bar for your team's domain, and make sound architecture and pattern calls, documenting them for others.
-
Partner proactively with your Product Owner, the Architect, and adjacent teams.
-
Mentor other engineers and coach them on contributing their own ideas.
WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE
-
4+ years building backend systems in C#/.NET.
-
Strong fundamentals in system design, OOP, and working with data-heavy systems.
-
Experience debugging and operating production systems, not just building new ones.
-
A track record of making sound architecture decisions and documenting them for others to build on.
-
A clear communicator who can explain tradeoffs to both technical and non-technical partners.
-
A steady, customer-aware mindset that values ownership and continuous improvement.
Bonus points for:
-
Experience with modern .NET versions.
-
CI/CD pipeline ownership.
