Role Overview
We are looking for a Commercial Life Sciences leader to help grow and scale phData's Life Sciences - Commercial business across data, analytics, and AI.
You'll lead go-to-market development for our commercial offerings while staying close enough to delivery to shape practical, high-value client solutions - across market access, pricing and reimbursement, patient services, commercial operations, omnichannel, payer analytics, and gross-to-net.
You'll spend most of your energy shaping market-facing offerings, supporting strategic pursuits, and advising clients - and you'll own the development of the commercial offerings themselves: defining what they are, what they're worth, and what they need to succeed.
What You'll Do
Drive Customer Outcomes. Stay relentlessly focused on the client's end goals, evaluating and applying the right data, AI, and platform technologies to deliver tangible business and patient value. Sharpen where phData can credibly win by pairing commercial domain knowledge with data, analytics, AI, and cloud capabilities.
Serve as a Trusted Advisor. Build strong relationships with commercial, analytics, and data leaders and act as a credible thought partner. Help clients translate ambiguous priorities into clear decisions, roadmaps, and business cases - across market access, pricing and reimbursement, patient services, commercial operations, omnichannel, payer analytics, and GTN.
Drive Sales & Industry Growth. Lead business development that grows phData's commercial footprint across life sciences - shaping proposals, leading client orals, supporting strategic pursuits, and expanding existing accounts against shared revenue goals. Champion our capabilities in the market and contribute the thought leadership, client stories, and event content that build credibility with commercial buyers.
Identify Expansion Opportunities. Work with account and partner teams to surface adjacent use cases, capture a backlog of next-step opportunities, and turn successful delivery into broader account growth.
Own & Scale phData's Commercial Accelerators. Own the development of the commercial offerings themselves - defining what they are, what they're worth, and what they need to succeed - while a dedicated team builds them and you stay close enough to keep each build true to the commercial intent. Scale them across accounts through positioning, demos, solution briefs, client and partner conversations, and repeatable GTM motions, and feed field and client input back into the accelerator roadmap so successful offerings get easier to sell, deploy, and expand. Partner with data, engineering, ML, and platform teams so solutions stay both commercially relevant and technically feasible.
What Success Looks Like
A stronger commercial life sciences pipeline, driven by sharper offerings and more effective pursuit support
Higher win rates and better account expansion through domain-led solutioning
A growing library of repeatable accelerators, demos, and packaged assets - offerings that get easier to deploy, demonstrate, and scale over time
Tighter alignment between market demand, the solution roadmap, and delivery
A faster path from client pain point to scalable solution concept to delivered value
Who You Are
You move fluidly between strategy and execution. You're credible enough to hold executive conversations and shape go-to-market direction, and practical enough to dive into use cases, requirements, and delivery tradeoffs when the work calls for it. You know how commercial organizations actually operate, how data and analytics support their decisions, and where AI creates real value versus noise. You'd rather build, package, and scale solutions than only advise on them.
Required Qualifications
~10+ years in life sciences, with meaningful time in commercial domain roles, consulting, data and analytics, solution leadership, or adjacent commercial transformation work
Strong working knowledge of one or more commercial domains: commercial analytics, market access, pricing and reimbursement, patient services, field analytics, omnichannel, commercial operations, or gross-to-net
Experience shaping and selling data, analytics, digital, or AI-enabled solutions for life sciences clients
Ability to engage both business and technical stakeholders and translate between commercial priorities and technical approaches
A track record in client pursuits, proposals, workshops, or strategic account growth
Comfort operating in ambiguity - structuring problems and moving from concept to execution
Strong communication: clear narratives, solution framing, and executive-ready materials
Preferred Qualifications
Experience across both industry and consulting/services/solution environments
Depth in commercial intelligence platforms, payer analytics, patient access, field force analytics, or AI-enabled commercial workflows
Direct experience with pharma commercial work such as launch planning, brand performance, segmentation and targeting, next-best-action, or omnichannel analytics
Familiarity with life sciences commercial data sources and the vendors behind them: claims, formulary, payer, real-world data, specialty pharmacy, hub, HCP/HCO, contracting, and GTN data, via IQVIA, Komodo, Symphony, MMIT, Clarivate/DRG, Definitive Healthcare, Veeva (CRM and Network), or Salesforce Life Sciences Cloud
Technical fluency across tools like Snowflake, Databricks, AWS, dbt, SQL, Python, R, SAS, Tableau, or Power BI - you don't need to be hands-on in all of them, but you should lead cross-functional conversations across business, data, analytics, ML, and platform teams with credibility
Experience packaging reusable offerings, accelerators, or market-facing assets
Co-sell or joint-solution experience with cloud, data, or application vendors
Exposure to adjacent domains: patient support, provider analytics, or medtech commercial analytics
