LISC is one of the country’s largest community development organizations, helping forge vibrant, resilient communities across America. LISC works with residents and partners to close gaps in health, wealth, and opportunity so that people and places can thrive. We do this by acting as a conduit for grants, loans and equity--and by providing technical assistance and capacity building--to locally rooted organizations that carry out the work in communities.
Job Overview
LISC is seeking a Lending Communications & Data Intern to support two main projects: 1) Update loan impact stories in LISC’s Project Profiles resource library to support lending communications and marketing. 2) Research and format summaries of key data points across the credit files of outstanding loans.
We are seeking a highly organized intern who is passionate about the work of CDFIs. The intern will need to leverage strong writing and analytical abilities, and be skilled at using data and research to tell a story. Top candidates will have demonstrated experience in communications, research, data analysis, and be excited to learn more about CDFI underwriting and lending.
The intern will have the opportunity to collaborate across teams and work closely with senior staff. They will be encouraged to participate in a variety of meetings and learning opportunities and to become familiar with LISC’s broader activities and programs.
Responsibilities:
Specific tasks and activities, including responsibilities related to the projects above, are anticipated to include:
-
Become familiar with LISC’s system reports, data, and underwriting documents. Use these resources to draft stories of impact (Project Profiles) for LISC’s loans.
-
Coordinate with LISC’s communications team to publish new Project Profiles in LISC’s online resource library.
-
Populate Project Profiles tracker and provide support to update the related map.
-
As they arise, provide recommendations for process improvements and/or new marketing opportunities.
-
Review credit narratives and underwriting workbooks of outstanding loans, focusing on collecting predetermined data points.
-
Format all outstanding loan data research into a single file and provide to Director of Compliance, Lending for ultimate submission to LISC’s IT team.
-
Perform all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Undergraduate or graduate student. Undergraduates must have completed a minimum of 2 (two) years’ coursework towards a Bachelor’s degree.
- Candidate must be actively enrolled in a degree program and provide documentation that internship relates to course of study.
