Flodesk is recognized in the Inc 5000 as one of the world's fastest-growing email marketing companies, built to help entrepreneurs sell online and design emails that people love to get. We're committed to giving small businesses simple and intuitive tools that help them grow, nurture, and monetize their email list.

We’re a remote-first company headquartered in San Francisco with a globally distributed team, including in-person hubs in Da Nang (Vietnam), Barcelona (Spain), and Menlo Park (California). Our team reflects the diversity and creativity of the people we serve. Join our mission to level the playing field for small business owners through good design.

About the Opportunity

You will be joining a high-energy, global team with a clear vision: make a thriving business within reach of anyone.

We are already a powerhouse in the email space—serving thounsand verified users and delivering 1+ billion emails a month. But we aren’t stopping there. We are expanding beyond email into a whole suite of marketing tool.

We are looking for Backend Engineers who are problem solvers. Whether you are a strong builder (Mid-level) or a system architect (Senior), we want you to help us build high-scale infrastructure and new AI products from the ground up.

What You Will Do (The Mission)

You will not just "code tasks." You will drive business impact by working on:

High-Scale Systems: Build and operate backend services that handle 1 billion+ monthly events. You will solve difficult technical challenges like speed, data processing, and stability.
Innovation & AI: Explore, utilize, and release the robust backend for an AI application to build a DIFM (Do it for me) marketing tool.
APIs & Integrations: Design strong internal and public APIs. You will build integrations with partners like Shopify, Zapier, and WooCommerce.
Full Ownership: You own your code from idea to release. You will work directly with Product Managers and Designers to decide how features should work.

What you need to be successful

We hire for mindset first, technology second. To succeed here, you need:

Engineering Skills

Our Tech Stack: We primarily use Golang and Node.js on the backend and PostgreSQL for our database. But we are open to any background (Java, Python, PHP, etc.)—we care about your logic, foundation, and problem-solving skills more than the specific language.
Critical Thinking: You don't just fix bugs; you find the root cause. You proactively think about edge cases, database bottlenecks, and security before you write code.
System Design (For Seniors): You understand how to design complex systems (Distributed systems, Databases) and can explain your choices clearly. You can design systems that stay fast even when traffic increases by 10x.

Product Mindset

User Focus: You understand that code is a tool to solve user problems. You care about the quality of the product, not just the quality of the code.
Curiosity: You ask "Why?" Why are we building this? Is there a simpler way? How does this help the business?

Collaboration

Ownership: You own your work, learn from mistakes. You don't wait for detailed instructions; you talk to the PM, understand the requirement, and deliver the solution.
Communication: You can explain in English technical problems to non-technical people (like Designers or other stakeholders) clearly and respectfully.
Teamwork: You value team success. You believe in code reviews and sharing knowledge. You help the team get better every day.

Why you should choose us

Impact: Your choice of solutions will directly help thousands of businesses grow.
Scale: Few startups offer the chance to work with "Billion-scale" data.
Culture: We are a lean, fast-growing team that values Good Design, Trust, and Empowerment. We invest in our people, adapt quickly, and strive to be a great place to work.
Perks:

- We pay highly competitive salaries + 13th-month bonus.
- Stock options for high contributors—we want you to own a part of our success.
- Professional development package of up to $1,000/year (for courses, books, or conferences).
- Modern office with top-notch equipment (MacBook Pro).
- Comprehensive healthcare package (Annual health check, Vaccine, Premium Health Insurance)
- Flexible working hours with a standard 5-day workweek.
