ICON is seeking a Technical Account Manager to support adoption and implementation of ICON’s technology for markets within the state of Texas. This role will build relationships with in-market building officials, engineers, and inspectors that drive regulatory acceptance, adoption, and market expansion of ICON's construction technology in the private sector. Reporting to the Director of Building Regulatory Affairs and working closely with ICON’s customer-facing teams, this role is the technically fluent representative of ICON to local building departments and design professionals, focused on supporting ICON’s customers. This is a relationship- and market-development role with a working technical foundation, not a deep engineering role. This role is based our of our Headquarters in Austin, TX.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Sustain regulatory acceptance and go-to-market standing across the established markets in the assigned market area, keeping approvals current and jurisdictional requirements met as active projects proceed.
- Open new markets within the assigned area by mapping acceptance and approval pathways and jurisdictional requirements in advance of active projects, surfacing AHJ-specific risks early enough to inform market-selection and go-to-market decisions.
- Provide support to customers and sales teams to gain the regulatory and permitting approvals necessary to build with ICON’s technology across the private residential, commercial, and industrial construction sectors.
- Build, own, and maintain the building official, regulatory, and market design-professional relationships that facilitate technology acceptance and accelerate market adoption, including travel regularly throughout the assigned state and market and to Austin, TX headquarters.
- Deliver presentations and educational technical materials to customers, building officials, plan reviewers, design professionals, and industry stakeholders to promote awareness and adoption of ICON's technology and its regulatory pathways.
- Provide technical sales support to ICON’s Sales and Business Development teams throughout the sales cycle, such as customer presentations, technical sales calls, and proposal input, positioning ICON's technology and regulatory readiness.
- Engage with customer-facing teams early in the sales pipeline to assess proposed project scope and jurisdiction, surface regulatory and permitting considerations before commitments are made, and shape the approach to smooth the path through acceptance, permitting, and construction.
- Serve as the first-line building regulatory contact and support for customers, local jurisdictions, and project teams, answering routine code and product questions, drawing on the appropriate ICON subject matter experts for technical depth, and escalating complex building regulatory approval challenges to the Director.
