Mark43’s mission is to empower communities and their governments with new technologies that improve safety and quality of life for all. We build powerful, scalable, and elegant software that sets a new standard for the tools on which first responders rely. Our users are diverse, and we are committed to embracing diversity of thought and experience within our team.

Due to the nature of our customers, this role requires NPPV3 (Non-Police Personnel Vetting Level 3) + SC clearance. Mark43 will sponsor and support the vetting process for successful candidates.

We’re looking for a Data Migration Engineer (ETL Developer) to join our team. You’ll be at the heart of the customer transition experience, designing and executing complex data migrations that enable agencies to adopt Mark43’s systems with confidence. You’ll work across internal teams and with external partners to help deliver clean, meaningful, and high-quality data into Mark43 products.

This role is a great fit for someone who thrives on solving complex puzzles, is energized by working with public safety data, and enjoys balancing technical depth with customer-facing collaboration.

What you can expect to work on:

• If you were part of our team last week, you would have:

  • Designed and executed a SQL-based ETL process to migrate decades of public safety data from a legacy system into the Mark43 platform
  • Collaborated with our data migration contractors, reviewing technical deliverables and providing guidance to help them succeed
  • Met with a customer’s records management team to understand their legacy data structure and translate it to the Mark43 schema
  • Dug into a uniquely formatted source database to uncover edge cases and ensure data fidelity
  • Worked alongside Mark43 deployment, engineering, and product teams to iterate on and improve our migration tooling and process
  • Balanced project timelines and quality standards while maintaining strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders

What we expect from you:

We’re looking for a data migration engineer with 2+ years of experience in ETL development or SQL-based data engineering roles. You should have a comprehensive understanding of data migration processes and be comfortable owning projects from discovery through delivery. Your attention to detail and ability to navigate ambiguity will be key to success.

People who thrive on our team also tend to share the following traits:

• Curious and resourceful. You enjoy figuring out how systems work and how to make them work better.
• Clear and collaborative. You communicate technical details to non-technical stakeholders and work well across teams.
• Committed to quality. You take pride in your work and sweat the details.

Qualifications:

• 2+ years of experience in a data migration, ETL development, or SQL development role
• Deep understanding of SQL and relational database design
• Demonstrated experience writing complex SQL scripts
• Ability to analyze and translate legacy data models into new schemas
• Experience managing contractor deliverables is a plus
• Interest in public safety data and the impact of high-quality migrations on customer success
• Prior work with public safety or government systems is a bonus

What you can expect from us:

• Constant collaboration with numerous Mark43 teams, including Global Services, Engineering, and Product
• Building mission critical and socially responsible software to enable first responders to better serve their communities
• A team that respects and embraces your ideas and expertise
• Coworkers that are motivated by pursuing excellence, rather than the prospect of personal gain
• A workplace dedicated to supporting and bettering public safety and government agencies
