Aerospace Quality Director

Aerospace is at a turning point — costs are rising, supply chains are strained, and old ways of building can’t keep up. At Neon Aero, we’re breaking that mold. We move fast, think big, and combine start-up agility with aerospace expertise to design, build, and scale aircraft in ways the industry has never seen. Our team leverages automation, AI-driven tools, and a fully connected digital backbone to accelerate innovation and reduce barriers to production.

Here, you won’t just take a job — you’ll help reinvent how the world flies. If you’re ready to solve complex problems, push technology further, and work alongside some of the brightest minds in aerospace, this is your chance to make a real impact.

Neon is looking for an Aerospace Quality Director to help build the quality systems, team, and operating discipline needed to take parts and assemblies from prototype into production. This role will lead the quality function across development, manufacturing, supplier quality, and production readiness, ensuring the company can scale with strong process control, repeatability, and compliance. You will play a key role in helping a growing aerospace organization move from fast iteration to reliable production without losing technical rigor.

Why This Role Matters

• Help shape how a growing company scales from prototype builds to stable production.
• Build the quality foundation needed for repeatable manufacturing, stronger yields, and fewer escapes.
• Partner directly with engineering and manufacturing to improve design transfer, process readiness, and production execution.
• Lead the systems and team that drive inspection discipline, nonconformance control, corrective action, and supplier quality.
• Influence how production processes are defined, controlled, and improved as volume and complexity grow.
• Operate in a fast-paced environment where quality decisions directly affect hardware readiness, customer confidence, and operational scale.
• Work across office, lab, and production settings with direct visibility into how quality impacts the business.

What You’ll Bring

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, quality, manufacturing, aerospace, or a related technical field; equivalent professional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
• Experience managing a growing department of direct reports responsible for all aspects of product and process quality.
• Significant progressive experience in aerospace quality, manufacturing quality, supplier quality, or quality systems leadership.
• Experience helping move parts, assemblies, or hardware programs from prototype into production.
• Experience building or improving quality systems in a growing manufacturing organization.
• Strong background in inspection planning, process controls, nonconformance management, and corrective action.
• Experience working cross-functionally with engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to improve quality and production readiness.
• Experience with supplier quality management and supplier issue resolution.
• Strong problem-solving skills, judgment, communication, and ability to drive accountability across teams.
• Ability to work across office, lab, and production environments.
• Ability to support periods of increased workload tied to builds, ramp activity, and issue resolution.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
• May be required to meet export control, ITAR, confidentiality, or site access requirements.

Preferred

• Advanced degree in a relevant technical discipline; equivalent professional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
• ASQ certification or equivalent quality credential.
• Experience with first article inspection, process validation, control plans, or production quality planning tools.
• Experience in high-growth aerospace, defense, or advanced hardware manufacturing environments.
• Experience building quality organizations during production scale-up.

Why Join Us

• Work alongside elite engineering talent and innovators from across aerospace and tech.
• Be part of a team moving faster than the industry standard.
• Shape solutions that are lower-cost, autonomous, and scalable — the future of aviation.
• Competitive compensation, including equity participation, growth opportunities, and full health benefits (health, vision, dental, 401(k)) designed to support you in and out of work.

This is the expected compensation range for this role. Final compensation will be based on role scope, experience, skills, internal equity and location. This role may also be eligible for bonus/equity/benefits, if applicable. $170,000—$190,000 USD
