Stantec’s Alberta based Community Development group are a market leader in the real estate planning and development industry. Our experts lead their fields, collaborating on projects that are as technically challenging as they are impactful, creative, and fulfilling. We’re a place where you can apply your passion—and find endless opportunities to help make communities more equitable, resilient, and livable.
Our multidisciplinary team covers planning and urban design, civil and stormwater engineering, landscape architecture, private site development, and construction management. We work with a diverse group of clients in land and site development, city-building and municipal projects, public realm and open space, and planning and development policy and strategy. Successful delivery of a diverse portfolio of projects and clients begins with insight and foresight into industry trends and engagement.
Your Opportunity
We are seeking an Intermediate or Senior Stormwater Engineer for our Calgary office within our Community Development group. You will have the opportunity to work on team building, business development, and project leadership. You will perform a variety of tasks, which may include supervising junior staff, industry engagement, client and business development support, stormwater discipline leadership on projects, report preparation, plans and construction documents, and project management. Our projects include stormwater management work across multiple sectors: municipal, transportation, subdivision, and private site development. This is a great opportunity for a motivated, energetic, people-oriented individual who wants to challenge their abilities in a dynamic work environment.
The selected candidate must be self-directed, capable of leading and supervising small teams, eager to mentor staff, and should demonstrate a passion for involvement in the stormwater industry and an enthusiasm to help develop the practice locally. This role will require a balance of supervisor responsibilities, discipline leadership, project leadership, business development, engineering, and design coordination.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Supervise junior staff in the Stormwater Team. This involves mentorship, training, workload resourcing, and career development.
- Engage in client and business development opportunities. This may include support with the development of marketing materials and tools for business development.
- Support and lead industry engagement efforts.
- Assist in leading design teams related to stormwater and drainage improvement projects, including the components of major infrastructure and multi-disciplinary projects.
- Oversee designs from a team of engineers and technicians who perform hydrologic and hydraulic analyses using PCSWMM and designs using CAD software.
