The role also involves reviewing technical data such as maps, drawings, soil reports, aerial photographs, and geologic/topographic information to inform design decisions. Construction-phase responsibilities include conducting site inspections, monitoring progress, ensuring compliance with plans and standards, and responding to contractor Requests for Information (RFIs). The engineer may also support construction management activities, including oversight of construction and maintenance efforts on design-build or traditional delivery projects.
Additional expectations include maintaining familiarity with relevant government, client, and industry codes and standards, participating in site visits with estimated travel up to 25%, and working outdoors in varying weather conditions as needed. A valid driver’s license is required. Ability to work independently while mentoring and supporting junior staff.
