This Opportunity
WSP is currently initiating a search for a Resident Engineer to support the New York Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) Fare Gate Modernization Program in New York City. This multi-year program will modernize fare collection infrastructure across the MTA network through the replacement and deployment of next-generation fare gates, associated communications systems, electrical infrastructure, network connectivity, software integration, testing, commissioning, and customer-facing equipment.
The Resident Engineer will serve as WSP's primary field representative and will oversee construction, installation, testing, startup, and commissioning activities at stations across the MTA system. The successful candidate will coordinate closely with the MTA, system suppliers, contractors, station operations personnel, and WSP project leadership to ensure work is delivered safely, efficiently, and in accordance with contract requirements.
The Resident Engineer will report directly to the Program Director and will oversee a staff of assistant resident engineers, inspectors, and specialty technical personnel supporting station modernization activities. This position will require night and weekend work to support revenue service operations, testing windows, and station outages.
