About the Company
Models are what they eat. But a large portion of training compute is wasted training on data that are already learned, irrelevant, or even harmful, leading to worse models that cost more to train and deploy.
At DatologyAI, we’ve built a state of the art data curation suite to automatically curate and optimize petabytes of data to create the best possible training data for your models. Training on curated data can dramatically reduce training time and cost (7-40x faster training depending on the use case), dramatically increase model performance as if you had trained on >10x more raw data without increasing the cost of training, and allow smaller models with fewer than half the parameters to outperform larger models despite using far less compute at inference time, substantially reducing the cost of deployment. For more details, check out our recent research on synthetic data scaling (BeyondWeb) and pretraining with domain-specific data (The Finetuner’s Fallacy).
We raised a total of $57.5M in two rounds, a Seed and Series A. Our investors include Felicis Ventures, Radical Ventures, Amplify Partners, Microsoft, Amazon, and AI visionaries like Geoff Hinton, Yann LeCun, Jeff Dean, and many others who deeply understand the importance and difficulty of identifying and optimizing the best possible training data for models. Our team has pioneered this frontier research area and has the deep expertise on both data research and data engineering necessary to solve this incredibly challenging problem and make data curation easy for anyone who wants to train their own model on their own data.
About the Role
We’re hiring our first operations person in London to build our UK presence from the ground up! This is a founding role, so you’ll do a little bit of everything: office, people ops, recruiting, events, and whatever else the team needs.
You’ll work closely with our first London hire, who is building research and engineering, and with our People and Finance teams at HQ in San Mateo, CA. You’ll own how the UK runs, turning our plans into a real office, a compliant employer, and a place people are glad to come to!
What You'll Work On
-
Stand up the London office end to end: space, lease negotiation, vendors, equipment, insurance, health and safety, and security
-
Partner with our US recruiting team on UK hiring, owning the local mechanics of contracts, background checks, and onboarding
-
Run UK payroll with our US Finance team, including HMRC filings, EMI options, pension auto-enrollment, and statutory leave
-
Select and manage our UK benefits, and tell us where our US package does not translate to this market
-
Run our UK events presence: team events, offsites, conference logistics, and recruiting events
-
Work with our outside immigration counsel and our US People team to maintain our Sponsor License, ensuring compliance with our immigration responsibilities.
About You
-
4+ years of relevant experience in operations, People operations, or office management
-
You've spun up a UK office or entity for a company headquartered elsewhere, ideally a US company, and you know where the surprises are
-
Hands on with UK payroll, pension auto enrollment, and statutory leave
-
Clear written communicator across a time zone gap, and responsive to emails.
-
You're collaborative, humble, and ready to own high-impact projects end-to-end
-
As you will serve as the local visa officer, you will need to be either a British Citizen or hold Pre Settled or Settled Status in the UK
Nice to Have
-
You've taken a company from an employer of record to its own UK entity
-
You've held a Key Personnel role on a sponsor license and been through a UKVI compliance visit
-
Experience at a venture backed technology company, especially one under 200 people
-
Background running conference logistics for a technical audience
