The Attorney General is seeking applications from qualified persons for appointment as a Judge of the District Court of NSW to sit in the civil jurisdiction under the District Court Act 1973.
Applicants must be current or former judicial officers or Australian lawyers of at least seven years’ standing.
The District Court is the busiest intermediate trial court in Australia and judges regularly hear interlocutory disputes as well as final hearings. The Court has a wide civil jurisdiction with a large variety of matters coming before the Court. A significant part of the Court’s present civil list workload consists of:
