Risk Specialist

We’re all about helping our members make the most of their money. And while they go after their goals, you can too. As a Risk Specialist in our Investment Risk team, you’ll help strengthen how we identify, assess, and manage risks across our investment ecosystem.
 

You’ll work independently from the Investments function while partnering closely with stakeholders across Investments, Operations, Legal, and Compliance. Your work will help ensure risks are well understood, managed within appetite, and aligned with our broader strategy — all while supporting strong investment outcomes for members.
 

This is your opportunity to contribute to a modern, adaptive risk function that balances regulatory expectations with long-term thinking. You’ll play a hands-on role in embedding better risk practices, improving processes, and delivering insights that matter.
 

This role is a permanent opportunity and is based in Brisbane or Sydney.

Responsibilities

Day to day, you'll:

• Support the management of investment and operational risks, controls, and incidents across the investments ecosystem.
• Provide practical risk advice on projects, initiatives, and process improvements.
• Coordinate key risk management activities with first line teams to strengthen end-to-end processes.
• Partner with investment stakeholders to guide day-to-day risk and compliance obligations.
• Identify, assess, and support remediation of risk issues, incidents, and control improvements.
• Act as a key link between Risk & Compliance and Investment teams, ensuring alignment and collaboration.
• Contribute to the ongoing uplift of risk frameworks, controls, and practices.
• Support reporting, insights, and administrative activities within the Investment Risk function.

Qualifications

It goes without saying you'll be a great communicator with top notch interpersonal skills. We'll also expect you to pick up problems and come up with quick, creative ways to solve them. It's quite likely you tick some of the following boxes too:

• You bring experience in a similar risk role within financial services or investments.
• Your knowledge of financial markets helps you understand complex investment risks.
• You'll build trusted relationships across a wide range of stakeholders.
• You're a critical thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• You have experience applying risk management and compliance principles in an investment context.
• Your tertiary qualification in finance, business, mathematics, or related discipline is highly regarded.
• You'll communicate complex concepts clearly, both in writing and verbally.
• You're comfortable working in fast-paced environments while delivering high-quality outcomes.
