Join National Grid as a Support Surveyor to help deliver nationally significant infrastructure. 

In this role, you’ll support the acquisition of land rights for new electricity assets, working alongside expert colleagues to ensure projects are delivered in line with legislation, best practice and our licence obligations. You’ll work directly with landowners and communities – building trust and securing the land that makes major projects possible.

This role offers hybrid working, with our head office in Warwick and access to hubs in Leeds, Birmingham and London. You’ll also be flexible to weekly travel across England and Wales as projects require.

What you'll do

• Support Chartered Surveyors and Senior Surveyors in delivering land rights and acquisitions for major infrastructure projects – from development through to construction

• Secure land access, land rights, acquisitions, and negotiate compensation settlements

• Build strong relationships with landowners, customers, and internal & external stakeholders

• Procure and manage external suppliers to deliver lands activities effectively

• Apply the National Grid Land Rights Strategy and supporting policies in a consistent, transparent, and commercial way

• Contribute to project reporting, including programme milestones, risk, contracts, and financial performance

• Share lessons learned and best practice to drive consistency and continuous improvement across the land portfolio

About you

You’ll bring a mix of experience, potential, and a desire to grow within a critical, high‑impact environment. Specifically, you’ll have:

• Experience or exposure to delivering land activities across infrastructure projects – including access, land rights, and compensation negotiations
• Strong relationship‑building skills, with the ability to engage positively with a wide range of stakeholders
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills, able to convey complex information clearly and concisely
• Experience working collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams to support project delivery
• Exposure to – or an interest in developing – project and contract management capability within land acquisition projects
• An understanding (or willingness to learn) the legal and regulatory frameworks National Grid operates within, including statutory powers and project strategy alignment
• Awareness of (or interest in developing knowledge of) consenting regimes for linear infrastructure projects, including:
  • Development Consent Orders (DCO) under the Planning Act 2008
  • Compulsory Purchase Order (CPO) processes and compensation code
• Ideally AssocRICS / MRICS (or working towards)
